OMG: Liberal MP attacks Australia’s oldest digger during condolence motion
The federal Liberal Member for Mayo has been accused on Nine News of attacking the memory Jack Ross, Australia’s oldest digger from World War I who passed away this week.
The federal Parliament passed a condolence motion to honour the man’s service, our last living connection with the war that was meant to end all of them.
Nine News reported last night that Jamie Briggs interjected during the Prime Minister’s remarks in the House that “Only the good die young”, because the digger had also been a long-serving member of the Australian Labor Party.
Partisan jesting is one thing but the man had just died. His body barely cold. His memory was being honoured in the nation’s Parliament and “Only the good die young” was Jamie Briggs’s contribution to the discussion.
The astonishing news report explained that the Labor Minister 0 who would bring back the biff if he could – Anthony Albanese confronted Briggs the weasel over his words of shame.
His defence? The comment was only meant to be “light-hearted”.
There is something very wrong in public life if this kind of filth is allowed. We haven’t detected this disgrace in being mentioned in the media today, it seems only Channel 9 and Anthony Albanese were willing to be outraged about it.
His predecessor Alexander Downer had his faults – and many unfortunate gaffes – but nothing as low as this.
We have asked the MP whether he’ll be apologising to Jack Ross’s family. We’ll update with his reply.

Briggs is an immature fat wanker.
Is briggs a bit simple? He walks weird and has a really stupid look on his face. They obviously don’t have an IQ qualification threshold in the Liberal party if he can represent them.

The phrase “only the good die young” is a nice thing to say when a kid gets killed. It is however completely inaccurate, as you will observe every time an 18 year old Jihadi is on the receiving end of a Hellfire missile.
Seems like Briggs is touted by Philip Coorey in the SMH as the ‘next best thing’ for the Liberal Party. Pretty clear where Coorey gets his Liberal Party gossip from – payback for having loose lips perhaps?
