TAINTED LOVE: VEXNEWS scoops all as WA Greens MP Adele Carles admits love affair with Liberal Treasurer Troy Buswell

The Sunday Times reports that married mother of three Adele Carles – a Greens party politician in the West Australian Parliament –  has admitted to having a an extra-martial sexual relationship with notorious chair-sniffing WA Treasurer and married father of two Troy Buswell.

VEXNEWS exclusively revealed what we politely called their “close personal relationship” whole month ago. On March 24th we wrote for the first time of rumours of the adulterous fling:

The busy Treasurer Buswell has been regularly sighted by curious on-lookers and gossips in the company of the attractive lefty Ms Carles in recent months, including during late night parliamentary sittings: the friendship has blossomed further with suggestions that Buswell and Carles very regularly exchange text messages, including across the chamber during question time and at other times when you’d expect Buswell’s mind would be on the job.

The VEXNEWS report put pressure on Carles to discuss the claims, with our Perth sources saying she was being asked about the matter by journalists prompting her to deny the claims as being an “ALP conspiracy against her.”

Last week, she lied to the Sunday Times about the story.

Anger at Buswell rumour

GREENS MLA Adele Carles has accused Labor of running a smear campaign against her.
Ms Carles is incensed about allegations made about her and Treasurer Troy Buswell on an internet site that claims they are “cultivating a close relationship”.
“This is about the ALP’s anger at losing Fremantle,” Ms Carles said in a statement released to The Sunday Times yesterday.
“They want to undermine me and the Greens. “The material on that website does not deserve a response.
“As the member for Fremantle, it’s my responsibility to get the best outcomes for Fremantle and that involves developing good working relationships with senior ministers.” (VEXNEWS: Chortle)
The website claimed the pair very regularly exchanged text messages, including across the chamber, during question time and at other times.
“The busy Treasurer Buswell has been regularly sighted by curious onlookers and gossips in the company of the attractive lefty Ms Carles in recent months,” the website said.
Labor has denied running a smear campaign against Ms Carles.
“We have nothing to do with any rumours that are being spread,” Labor state secretary Simon Mead said yesterday.
A spokeswoman for Mr Buswell said: “We have no comment for your story.”
The relationship between Ms Carles and Labor has been strained ever since she won the Labor seat of Fremantle in 2009.

VEXNEWS heard during the week that as a result of our original story and the Sunday Times follow-up that there was speculation that Mr Buswell’s wife had left him. We were unable to confirm that story so did not publish it.

Greens MP Adele Carles confesses to secret affair with Troy Buswell

GREENS MP Adele Carles has confessed to a secret affair with Treasurer Troy Buswell.

Ms Carles, 41, married with three children, chose to go public, telling The Sunday Times the intimate relationship, lasting several months, ended only recently.

An emotional Ms Carles was filled with remorse and profusely apologised to all those she had hurt and deceived.

Ms Carles insisted the affair had not compromised her position in State Parliament and said she didn’t “seek or obtain any favours from the Treasurer”.

She said she had not betrayed her party and she had no intention of quitting as Fremantle MLA.

She refused to lay the blame solely at the feet of the 44-year-old Treasurer, who is also married and has two sons.

“It is with deep regret that I acknowledge having an affair with the Treasurer, Troy Buswell,” Ms Carles said.

“It lasted several months and it is over now.

“I could attempt to portray myself as the vulnerable one who was taken advantage of. However, this is simply not true. We made a mutual, albeit stupid, decision as two consenting adults.

“To my constituents in Fremantle, I apologise.”

The unfortunately named Greens party upper house MP Giz Watson publicly defended Carles last night on Perth radio, saying the affair lasted only a few months and had ended recently.
