CHEAPSKATES: Corruption concern over Cheap Eats as we reveal how little The Age pays restaurant reviewers
The Age’s popular Cheap Eats guide generates millions in sales for the struggling Fairfax company yet whistleblowers have revealed they only pay the reviewers an equivalent of a few dollars an hour. Industry observers say they are opening up the publication to being corrupted by finally famished foodies being bought off my restaurant owners who know the value of a favourable review.
