Coalition efforts to exploit the rampaging unpopularity of the carbon tax have been undermined by the bullying antics of a blundering Liberal campaign worker in Frankston.
A Greens party rabble-rouser and former militant student leftist Vicky Kasidis attended a community forum with Tony Abbott, organised by federal MP Bruce Billson.
While no doubt she had consciously embarked on an attention-seeking exercise, it appears Kasidis was invited to attend and RSVP’d and expressed her big-taxing views in a polite and respectful way.
She was heckled by the anti-tax crowd, which seems fair enough too. That was presumably her intention in the first place.
But the Liberal cause was not helped by the thuggish stupidity of boof-head brazen bully Declan Stephenson, a man thanked by Bruce Billson himself in Parliament as a hard-working member of the local Liberal campaign machine, who menacingly stood-over the Greenie attention-seeker as she was recounting her tale of being the victim of crowd-heckling.
VEXNEWS understands Stephenson is a Liberal party member in the Dunkley FEC of many years standing.
Stephenson urged the apparently demure Greenie trouble-maker to “get back under your rock” and then proceeded to follow her out of the venue, onto the street and appeared intent on following her back to the local train station. When she asked him to leave and claimed she felt intimidated by him, he declined to leave, apparently keen to ensure Frankston was free of her niggling presence.
We accept that a sneaky Green soliciting sympathy does not necessarily deserve it. But we also say that a solitary female being followed around the streets by a menacing gruff old bloke should have been left alone. It is the editorial policy of VEXNEWS not to be sympathetic to the Greens party but it does appear Stephenson crossed the line, while being too foolish to know what trouble he was creating for himself and the cause he is supposedly assisting.
Somewhat belatedly, watching the Sky News vision carefully, Stephenson can be seen removing his name tag. The badge certainly didn’t read “Oxford scholar”. He didn’t give his name when asked at various points but then spelled it when one of the journos appeared to know it. Not an edifying spectacle.
Not unreasonably as it appeared on the Sky News vision, the Greenie attention-seeker wanted Stephenson to leave her alone, he declined, leading to a bizarre and ugly stand-off where Kasidis burst into tears while calling a comrade for help, journalists rallied around to protect her, Victoria Police attended and yet the strutting Stephenson held his ground, wielding beer gut and bad attitude, even giving one of the cops an earful. Eventually, despite their professional pre-occupation never to be part of the story, one of the journos did the right thing and drove her away. She shouldn’t have had to. The old bloke should have deprived the Kasidis of the one thing she clearly craved: attention. Instead he took the bait: hook, line and sinker.
Australian politics is going through an excited time, the polls suggest a landslide swing against the federal government, it’s pressing ahead with currently unpopular measures to tackle climate change, the PM herself is being bailed up by oldies in shopping centres and accused to her face of being a liar, Abbott is attacked by his own shadow ministers, fresh from sorting out an ugly squabble over his party’s presidency. It’s all happening. But both sides of politics will have to be careful not to overplay their hand. Both sides would also do well to be very wary of the provocations of the increasingly hated Greens party, whose policies and agenda are being progressively revealed as an anathema to working people.
With friends like Declan Stephenson – and indeed Malcolm Turnbull – Tony Abbott doesn’t need enemies.
I love a bit of rough play around the rear entrance.
I was there, the only thing i heard said to her, was by one or two people who shook her hand, and congratulated her for speaking up, both followed that by saying he disagreed with her views….i might also add that Tony Abbott made a forceful point at the outset that he wanted to hear from all views, and that all views needed to be heard with respect, as that is the basis of democracy…might also add how well Tony batted back her attention seeking…encouraging her for speaking up and voting and that at least the Greens integrity to promised a carbon tax at the election
This is hardly surprising and compared to the stories of Tony Abbott at University – hardly worth reporting
Wow, well this piece of worthless garbage isn’t subjective in the slightest. No way. Not at all. Congratulations on being totally balanced and intelligent in your writing. You really don’t sound desperate to claw any type of criticism you can possibly muster against the Left. Job well done.
LOL. Andy, you’ve taken a time out – or should I say, cop out – on the carbon tax issue that’s convulsing Australia. You’re a top bloke with a brilliant blog but you are not engaged in the daily economy; and to the best of my knowledge, you have no dependents. That perhaps explains your cluelessness as regards the incendiary rage Gillard and Brown have fomented. Wake up, my friend: filth like Kasidis are destroying peoples’ lives. How many divorces, bankruptcies and suicides do you think the closure of Kandos Cement – a direct result of the carbon tax – will produce?
Well done on pointing out who Declan Stephenson is. I wonder if the Liberal Party will now expel him for harassment and intimidation.
As bad as Declan Stephenson seems to be I’d take him over Malcolm Turnbull any day of the week.
Bye bye to Fifield and Ryan. Treachery don’t PAY.
I agree the Liberal minder over stepped his boundaries. It is one thing to heckle in the debate of the public meeting but anther to stalk his victim into the streets and beyond the confines of the meeting itself. The women clearly and politely, although intimidated, asked him to stop following her. His actions were threatening and menacing. It reminded me of something out of a old NAZI movie where they organisers of events stalked and bashed those who spoke out against the policies advocated. His victim deserves an unconditional apology. Abbott must distance himself by condemning this thugs actions.
You should publish the video taken. It clearly shows this man stalking his victim in what can only be described as an act of intimidation. He was asked on more than one occasion to stop following her. His actions were creepy and threatening, eventually forcing the woman into tears. If it had not been for the presence of the media who filmed the confrontation who knows what trouble she would have found herself confronting.
Rumour has it that a former workplace of Ms Kasidis receives daily phone calls from debt collectors chasing her. Perhaps she should be worried about another tax ;)
“This policy (The Carbon Tax) will put a cost on pollution and it will drive change, it will drive innovation,” Vicky Kasidis said
“Business people in this country are very smart, they’re versatile, they’re innovative, they will find ways to do things differently and in the long term it will decrease the cost of living, will improve our economic conditions, will open up our industries.”
This is not the statement of some protester who deserved or justified threatening action taken on behalf of Tony Abbott’s supporters.
WARNING… it sends a message that of you speak up against Abbott’s policies you will be beaten up in the streets outside the meeting.

When young people stop listening to their elders its about time we put them over our knee and gave them a bit of a spank. How dare these young Greeny types telling us what the state of the world is. I’ve been around longer than any of them and I say they should shut up and listen to Tony, he knows this Global wap wap is Crap.
Who’s future is it alyway, I’ve got a few more years of spending what my parent left me and what I should leave to my children but Hey, its all about me, me me me.
***it sends a message that of you speak up against Abbott’s policies you will be beaten up in the streets outside the meeting***
LOL. Get a grip, girly.
Here’s the footage of the seriously creepy weirdo stalking the poor woman.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X0SU8Frk03E
Last time I came across Vicki she was running away from nipples rather than Liberals. MGF bannings Swinburne 2001 – the fymynyst left in league with the moralist right. Those were the days. :)
Byron, if the media were not there I would not be surprised is they did not stick the boot in. Why did this thug persist on folling her out into the street? Did you see the footage? It was threatening and intimidating. I am not a Green supporter but I think Abbott supporrters went well beyond the threshold on this account. Totally uncalled for.
From the party of Bill Heffernen. Why is this supposed to be surprising?
A former Liberal Party campaign manager who left a Greens member in tears after a community meeting involving Tony Abbott has been targeted on Facebook.
After a series of questions to Mr Abbott from the audience condemning the carbon tax, Greens member Vicky Kasidis said she supported it.
Tony Abbott allowed Ms Kasidid to ask her question before she was hounded out of the meeting.
She was heckled by some members of the crowd, before being told to ‘‘get back under a rock’’ by Mr Billson’s former campaign manager Declan Stephenson.
Ms Kasidis, from Edithvale, fled the building in tears, followed by several reporters and Mr Stephenson.
Mr Stephenson repeatedly refused requests to stop following Ms Kasidis, despite her saying she was scared of him.
He left after police arrived and Ms Kasidis entered a car. Mr Billson, who denied the meeting audience was hand-picked, condemned Mr Stephenson’s behaviour.
A Facebook page called ‘‘Declan Stephenson should be ashamed’’ was created late yesterday.
***Did you see the footage? It was threatening and intimidating. I am not a Green supporter***
No, you’re a Green apologist. Listen, mate – these scum are ruining peoples’ lives. Wrecking the economy, causing bankruptcies, divorce, suicides all across the country. Did you see Gillard’s meet and greet in a Brisbane shopping mall yesterday? Mums and grannies, going into newsagents, buying textas and cardboard to make their protest signs. Not rednecks like me, little old ladies who have had a gutful of the lies, the taxes, and of being taken for granted. My recommendation to the effete dilettantes on the sidelines is wake up, and look around you. The public are enraged. I have never seen this level of hatred towards a PM that we have now, and that includes Whitlam during the Khemlani affair. As to Kasidis, she can bloody well thank her lucky stars she got off so lightly. Greenies vandalise logging equipment, destroy crops (like they did in the ACT last night), trespass on farms then whine about a few cross words outside a public meeting.
Is this the same Vicky Kasidis – known throughout the blogosphere as the divine “miss P” – that used to be the online and offline paramour of our very own Leftard-in-a-Box, [deleted]?
[deleted] to be sure.
Joyeux Le Quatorze Juillet!
Compared to the Greens campaign workers who threatened a young female Liberal student who was giving out coalition HTV’s in Abbotsford back in 2004, Declan was courteous and respectful but he was still a twit.
Could Tony Smith go out the door with Scott the rat?
Declan is a loyal sort of person. Senator Fifield is a case study in treachery voting against Helen Kroger and getting his puppy Scotty dog to do the same. Pity for them both. They lost.
Geoff Shaw would of handled this so much better.
I always said it was a mistake to promote him of the Schutzstaffel
I was there…this is a load of TISH . . .Buddy looks like you wern’t there unless the cameras the TV station was using are lying like you are. Somehow I think I will believe in the cameras and not the Liberal fantasy fanatics. The Liberal party bitches about Union strong arm tactics and then they do this using some half baked porkupine that has not got the balls to confront a man but a small lady. You silly silly people no wonder you can’t string policies together Lets hope this phoney party is burried once and for all with their phoney leader.
time for giuseppe de simone to get a life and start cooking pizza for all. lets start with a family vegetarian!
Yep, the greens are going to knacker this country. According to the science trust of the greens, BZE, the transition to wind and solar power by 2020 will only require a reduction of electricity consumption of about 50% and expenditure of somewhere between $850 and 4100 BILLION.
Apparently 99% of the green constituency live in cities; when the lights go out being followed will be the least of Vicky’s problems.
What ever you think or however you view life in general in this country, that fat prick (if you are a father) needs something…..
What I saw on Channel 10 last night was Vicky having her wrist grabbed while she was pushed towards the door by the rabble who circled her as soon as the meeting ended. I believe she has clear grounds to press assault charges against the b*tch who thought that was reasonable behaviour. They also told her ‘her kind’ should be ‘strung from a tree’.
And Byron, please seal yourself into an airtight room so that we can pump it full of CO2. Then we’d like your kids and grandkids to breathe it.
TAX POLLUTION!? Hell no, we don’t need clean air. Idiots.
You should see Tony Abbott’s behaviour toward females who challenge him in his own electorate
***you should see Tony Abbott’s behaviour toward females***
Oooh, ‘we should see.’ Grow up ya simpering pansy. Abbott’s devoted wife and three charming daughters tell us all we need to know about his attitude towards females. Try comparing the Abbott and Howard families to the Keating, Latham, Hawke and Rudd families. LOL.
The Green woman is a dill.
The Stephenson person is another mindless Liberal thug.
Labor is up shit creek.
What is happening?
Brother Abbott we again can celebrate the joy of catholicism as we ‘specially induct’ young James into the St Chester’s Choir before communion this Sunday morning. Don’t be late.
Libs can never stand any disent. We have gone from bully boy Howard to bully boy Abbott.
The anti carbon tax campaign is being waged to bring down a government and they do not care if they wreck Oz economy in process.
Let’s be clear in the last election the public did not give the Abbott a mandate. Vile ex journo Abbott still can’t forgive us for that.
We saw same thing in Victoria – the liberals ran scare and hate campaigns that ran down victoria’s reputation And destroyed our largest export industry of education – but when they get power they do nothing but development deals for their big business mates, cut wages and fail to invest in infrastructure.
Where is there any proof that the modern liberal party is anything more than a bunch of negative vandals and bullies.
and I heard that Tony Abboott is often hard against altar boys as well!
***it reminded me of something out of a old NAZI movie where they organisers of events stalked and bashed those who spoke out***
LOL. Forwarding that one to Julia, for her HYPERBOWL file. Keep the crazy coming? You’re entertaining, in a visit-to-Bedlam way.
Perhaps these filthy slurs against Tony Abbott and Cardinal Pell need to be removed.
Isnt it amazing how these warm fuzzy greens get upset when someone does to them what they have subscribed to for ages. She only went there to get in their faces and didnt count on one of them being as feral as her!
@Byron in Wahroonga
You really get around don’t you?
Troll!
@anonski – what slurs?
Declan, your family must be so proud of you.
Simpering pansy!! Is that the best you got. I have had harder smack downs from Wendy the resident fat green. As for Abbott marrying a woman and then fathering 3 daughters how does that indicate his attitiude toward women. Simpering pansy indeed. Pru Goward thats all I have to say to you!!
Why did he follow her out into the street? He was very weird indeed.
Did anyone notice that Declan slipped up when he refered to the Party? Then he corrected himself and call it a Community forum. Community Forum by arse… I bet he is the toast of the Liberal Party for his negative publicity/
What sort of pseudonym is “Taking of Pell 123″? It seems to be a typo more than a nom-de-plume. Is it Talking of Pell or Taking off Pell?
You are a gutless moron, a sniveling coward, a brainless sub-Neanderthal, an incoherent vomit-inducing purveyor of vile humourless inanities, a bigoted bloated self-important drug-crazed psychopath and deep down not a nice person at all.
You should be ashamed of yourself and the tax-payer should get a refund for your failed education.
As the erudite Gough Whitlam once said, “in your case, I would make abortion retrospective.”
As the brilliant Robert Menzies once said when asked to apologise for saying “you have the brains of a goat”, “I apologise most profusely. You do not appear to have the brains of a goat.”
***as for Abbott marrying a woman and then fathering 3 daughters how does that indicate his attitiude toward women***
A lot, by way of comparison. Most of his leftie critics – thankfully – couldn’t father anything. But since you brought it up, how much of the Abbott hate is driven by simple envy? Lonely gals at home (like Kasidis) with three cats, who could never hope to win a studly bloke. Gayters with a modem whose (cough, cough) partner, could never do Speedos such justice? Atheist cowards with a keyboard – like yourself – denigrating his faith? That ugly little assembly covers 90% of the Left.
More biffo. That’s what we need back in politics.
Pity it wasn’t Bob Brown. Then we could have booted him up the clacker on his way out the door.
Bring on the next election.
***the anti carbon tax campaign is being waged to bring down a government and they do not care if they wreck Oz economy in process***
What?? Listen up, fruitloop: share values dropped $25bn this week, thanks to Gillard. David Jones and retail generally is in the ditch, thanks to Gillard. Home values are plummeting, thanks to Gillard. We all know who’s wrecking the economy.
She burst into tears because someone with a different political point of view stood next to her?
I should be the one crying when I see the amount of tax the left of this country remove from my pay cheque by fiat.
The trashy slurs allowed on this blog say it all really. Happy to slander and slur in a public forum but get upset at a fool who stands staring at someone? Yeh, that’s real ethics!
Greenies claim they care about the environment and that is why this tax needs to go through, Total bullshit. That lot are the new Nazi,s / Facist however you want to call them. They are the ones that will destroy this countries economy for decades to come if this Carbon Tax is allowed in. They hate marriage/ families / free speech. They love dope and spending other peoples money, because they are too lazy and dumb to make any money of their own
A tree hugger versus a redneck! Would like a background check on both with respect to government hand outs and other bludges off the taxpayer! I reckon both of them are useless bludgers.
What I saw was a large man walking slowly behind a short fat woman in a funny hat. Of course it looks intimidating, but was it really? Are all large ugly men in beards automatically to be labelled intimidators because of the way they look? And are all small women to be taken as victims because they cry and say they are frightened?
The journalist fell into the biggest trick of the book, feeling sorry for a crying woman.
Let’s look at reality. The man is an elderly man who walks slowly. The woman is a known agitator who had no problem going to an event and standing up and speaking when she knew she was in the minority. Her views on shutting down other people’s jobs and homes are fairly enraging and yet she still showed up.
The antics outside by her pretending to be afraid were a sham act and everyone fell for it. The man is a silly old man in a beard who got set up.
He should apologise to his liberal friends and to Tony Abbott for his stupid actions, but to the woman, no way.
And how are we supposed to view the journalist? Was he there as part of the setup?
By the way, some of the comments on this blog are filthy and slandering towards the Catholic Church and should be removed.
So a feral met another feral, as if he could have done anything with the press all around, both were disgusting.
Bullying thugs are usually on the left side of pollitics, and that’s were they should stay. I thought the right were better than this.
Here is a description of events as I believe they unfolded
I an not a Liberal supporter nor do I support Labor, that does not stop me from repporting honestly what took place.
(I also asked a question at the venue but had the courtesy to identify myself and my political affiliations before speaking.)
Firstly let me make it clear, I neither support nor codone the actions this man undertook, but as always there are two sides too any story, below is my account though of what took place as far as I was concerned whilst I was there.
Tony Abbot presented his opening remarks and made some comments on the carbon tax. Upon one of these comments there was a Guffaw , we looked across in the direction where it came from to see the women who was identified later as the green party member sitting there and looking at notes she had, whilst furiously taking notes as Tony spoke.
After her first derision she constantly put her hand up to ask a question.
This was not a issue as eventually they asked her to state her question.
In asking her question she “failed” to identify that she was a member of the greens and tried to push her viewpoint across to a predominant group who where obviously very much against the carbon tax.
Though there was some murmurs of derision when she spoke they were by no means over the top and she was allowed not only ask her question but also make her comment on how she voted for the tax and how HER Party who in here opinion had a Mandate to implement a carbon tax!
I think it then that Tony asked her was she a member of the greens to which she responded yes and to which I believe Tony acknowledged that at least the greens had been honest when they went to the election not like the Labor party who mislead the and lied to the people over their intention to introduce a carbon tax, however Tony pointed out that the Greens are not supposedly the Government and as such don’t have a mandate to govern.
After the meeting the press ran straight to the women in question and started asking questions regarding her viewpoint and her reception, giving all who were there, the impression that her opinion was the only one that counted.
Some people took offence at this and started to heckle her, one older women asked if she worked or had children and how concerned she was about cost increases
In the questioning it came out that this greens voter was a matured age student who had kids but did not work and when the other lady made the comment that she could then understand her attitude, the greens person made the derisive comment that she couldn’t possibly understand because basically she was smarter than her.
That is when things started to get a bit ugly, with the Media still trying to get some sort of reaction on something that they could report on .
Then the Media told her to go outside with them so they could talk to her without interruption from those around, that is when the other Gentlemen followed her outside, though he heckled her inside he did not swear or abuse her as far as I am aware, as to what took place outside I can’t comment, however there where police present and prior to her leaving the venue with the media, the police deemed no action was necessary as she was not being threatened in the venue which made me even more convinced that the media tried to set this up to cause trouble by taking her outside where there was no protection especially if she felt so threatened by the man in question who was next to her in the venure making comment on what she said.
I hope this explanation clarifies the situation for those that where not there
Nothing in politics and the media is always what it seems to be.
***I thought the right were better than this***
Too late! The raffle for the most contrived example of faux theatrical disdain has already been drawn. Grateful for your excellent contribution nonetheless, Byron
***are all large ugly men in beards automatically to be labelled intimidators because of the way they look?***
Yep. Like all bullies, the greenies are cowards. They want to destroy this country through taxes and red tape, and they can’t abide any challenge to that plan. That’s why Gillard and Brown want to regulate News Ltd, and why there’s such a contrived fuss over some bloke confronting this fat little greenie – who by the way drove miles, to attend a community forum. As always, it’s someone else’s community they wreck.
The Weekend Australian understands that, as well as calling for plebiscites and a directly elected federal party president, the review urges giving the federal executive control over preselection timing.
The Coalition’s loss last year has already been blamed on delays in getting candidates on the ground in crucial seats in NSW in the lead-up to the poll.
The issue has cast an atmosphere of acrimony over the NSW Liberal state executive elections now under way.
Thanks Garry for clearing this matter up. No more needs to be said really.
The Conservatives will never defeat the Green /ALP/ACTU/Leftist Thugs by imitating them.
The Guy’s a Goose and as many have said he has given these Arse Clowns exactly what they wanted.
The Conservatives should take a leaf out of Lu Kewen’s Kevin 07 campaign where they shut down the WA Union thugs from getting any air time or MSM coverage until he was elected.
Discipline !!!!!! Lose cannons sink their own ship
Thanks for telling it the way it was Garry! It really was bothering me that the Liberals were beginning to act like bully boys themselves. It would have been much wiseer for the man in puestion to have left well enough alone though, then the media would have had nothing to report.
The meaningless and offensive comments re the Catholic Cardinal Pell and Tony Abbot should be taken down.
As a young woman working in the Hunter Coal fields I was visited by a over powering Trade Unionist who with a room full of people he announced in a loud voice that there ” was to be no political discussions to take place” and walked out again. Obviously I had been put in by some one who then sent in the “heavies” to intimidate and threaten. I cant be the only person to have experianced these Union bulies,so why have these people been allowed to intimidate and threaten for so long with out comment until the perpetrator is Liberal?.
We inhabit the moral high ground in this arguement… The Skeptics are the realists, The Greens are Eco Fascists with political agendas…. Skeptics represent the power of the freedom of speech…. Catastrophist Greens engage in the distortion of free speech….
Don’t go giving them the opportunity to change that around…. They will engage us with agitators and they will lie.
So keep it real. Keep it truthful, and the Eco Fascists are exposed for all to see.
I understand that Taking of Pell is located near St Andrews Square Sydney – Jensens anybody?
Kasidis made two complaints of sexual harassment by Liberal Party student hacks when she was on the Swinburne Student Union Council. Both were not pursued by Victoria Police given she is a total nutter. It is no surprise her name has popped up again in this context.
Yes Stephenson was a bit of a goose. It would have been better to ignore the Greens women after the meeting rather confront her and chase he out of the hall.
Stephenson does not look to bright in the photo; perhaps he is a happy clappy Christian praise de lord type.
Declan is not a Liberal Party member.
But he is a member of the Frankston community which the fruitcake with the hat was not.
She wanted to grand stand, and Declan was silly enough to facilitate this.
The interloper and lover of carbon tax shuold wait for a forum in her own community, down the Frankston line!
Stopping all stations!
