Aside from workshopping the concept of Australia’s Biggest Political Loser, ex-internet gossip peddler turned sleazy local politician Stephen Mayne has been telling everyone who’ll listen that he’s running for Melbourne City Council with someone else picking up the campaign expenses. That someone has gone wind of it and has already cut him loose. Mayne is being urged by his long-suffering wife Paula to pull the pin on the whole scheme.

The Vice-President of Fair Work Australia, Michael Lawler, was appointed to his cushy $400,000 per annum judicial gig by Tony Abbott when Lawler was a respectable Sydney family man and a member of Opus Dei. Those familiar with the matter say he’s now fully subscribed to the dangerous cult of HSU humbug and Noam Chomsky chum Kathy Jackson. Those attending the HR Nicholls Society annual dinner on June 12th, where Jackson is speaking, and Lawler will probably tag along, could be in for quite a wild night, if past performance is any guide.
