I was a delegate too at the preselection. There was no doubt that the result was predetermined by 104 and their minions. Vucic may have lacked polish but Cicchiello lacked any substance whatsoever. When you compare both candidates overall, including their published literature and Content in their official nomination form, there is no doubt that Vucic was the clear winner. His materials and speech displayed excellent knowledge of Bruce and relevant policies and issues. Cicchiello’s intellectual contribution to this preselection was non-existent.

You have to wonder how some of these people get preselected. Does he have compromising pictures of someone. Alan Griffin is a first class shit of a human being and a lousy local member. A good, strong Liberal might just oust this seat warmer, but instead the Libs pre-select a fool.

I was a delegate that was there on Tuesday night for the pre-selection vote for Bruce.
Anton is no JFK but he was the better candidate and could’ve had a chance of winning this seat for the liberals. He also actually lives in Bruce unlike Cicchiello. Cicchiello had no depth let alone substance. Bruce needs a hard worker such as Anton over that smooth talker Cicchiello.

I too as a delegate last Tuesday night. The description of the night’s events are accurate, and the difference in professionlism and brochure content between the two candidates was significant. Vucic by far exuded the knowledge, political skills and credibility required for a Federal Candidate. Cicchiello’s first brochure was alarmingly light, riddled with spelling and grammatical errors, as correctly outlined in the story. He repeated slabs of his material, and CV, from his official party nomination Form, throughout the first brochure. This suggests lack of any substance as a serious political candidate. The wedding picture was particularly ridiculous, as was the bizzare picture of his mouth open whilst with Minister Kotsiras. His second brochure also contained numerous spelling errors and factual errors, but it was an improvement (well, it had to be, I guess) on the rubbish supplied in the first brochure. No doubt a State MP’s office (or ex-MP) helped him produce his second document. Cicchiello does not have the political savvy to produce a heavyweight document. His second brochure was full of State issues, with very little outlining Federal policy knowledge, or evidence of Bruce community involvement (of which there was just his Dad’s church). He was definitely scrambling to counter Vucic’s impressive documents. But, he still predictably fell short. I voted for Vucic because of his overall package: local business owner, extensive local charity work, impressive political gravitas and proving to me that he understands what is required to win Bruce, and how he was going to do it. Cicchiello comes across as a shallow political operative, who needs to rely on others to carry him through. Sadly, the Party doesn’t allow Candidates to debate one another. I have no doubt that Vucic would have demolished him. I despair for our Party that we have Cicchiello thrust upon us. The local minions who did 104′s bidding deserve the loss which his candidacy will bring.

The article about the Bruce contest is true, i’m sorry to say. I was privy to be shown an email – using his school email account – written by Cicchiello in June when he started the rounds of courting local delegates. I have a copy here……apart from the fact that it was poorly written, again full of poor grammar and spelling mistakes, quite amazing for a teacher and aspiring Candidate. He mis-spelled Waverley twice in his email, “Waverly.” Then he presented a one-sheet CV, again spelling “Waverly.” He clearly has a problem being literate. He really is a joke…….if you can’t get the basics right, how can you expect to be an effective Candidate and MP?? The other Candidate, Vucic, was totally genuine, down to earth and produced outstanding brochures. It was clear that he was very well respected by many in the Bruce community, outside the party. Sadly, idiots in our party, locally and from Admin and 104, made sure that Vucic went down. Thanks to them and Cicchiello’s vacuous intellect and political skills, Labor will retain Bruce easily. Re the candidates’ preselection brochures, the comment at 18.42 is correct. The offical Rules state that no more than 10 pages can be senbt at any one time, and as per Mantach’s memo to Delegates dated 6 August 2012, it states “The Party takes the breaches of these Rules very seriously.” Past precedent is clear on this. The Breach by Cicchiello ought to have bene disclosed to delegates on the night, by him. It wasn’t. I know because I was a delegate. Mantach has serious questions to answer. Poor Anton – he sent out 9 pages, then 4 and 4; Cicchiello sent out 9 and 13. 13 exceeds 10, which is a clear Breach. This smells of a tainted convention………..

The MP that worked against Anton was Mrs Michael Kroger. Cicchiello even got Chris Pearce, the nobody ex-Aston MP to ring around for him.

The official Party Rules are quite clear: no more than 10 pages at any time are to be sent by candidates for preselection. I was a delegate. Cicchiello sent out 13 pages on the Thursday before the Convention. A clear Breach. State Director Damian Mantach was duty bound, by solid precedent, to advise delegates at the Convention of a candidate’s Breach. He failed to do this. Looks like Anton never stood a chance.

I am a lifelong Labor voter. My Young Liberal grandson showed me Anton’s 3 brochures, which I compared also with Emanuele’s. I was instantly impressed with Anton’s and would have voted Liberal, for the first time. His local charity work and knowledge of Bruce and its issues swayed me. I arrange a coffee club with 14 other local women, and they also compared both candidates’ brochures and would have voted for Anton.
