New federal laws that provide for automatic enrolment of voters will add an estimated 1.5 million new voters, mainly young people, to the roll and boost the Greensparty and ALP vote, especially in the inner-city, according to The Australian.
It will be intersting to see how the Conservatives view this as an attack on democracy. Hopefully these new voters watch, listen and read newer forms of media and communication so that the Murdoch bias becomes less influential.
The Coalition will HATE this.
John Howard’s enrolment policies were aimed at keeping the youth vote to a minimum.
Let’s see, Labor and greens want to encourage people to exercise their basic franchise and participate in the democratic process by enrolling them to vote automatically and this is a rort according to the Liberals. Howard changed the laws to prevent people from voting and to stop them from participating in the democratic process but that’s OK?
Great! Now the ALP is attempting to bring its squalid branch stacking to Federal elections.
Chris Pyne — now theres a rort. 17 years in Parliament and achieved ??????
Beasts should also get the vote.
Typical of labor, some focus group say that the young and inexperienced will vote labor (at least until they start to think!)so enroll enroll enroll all the youngsters may we can con them at least for the first time! Good luck but I think most young Aussies are much smarter then you are and can see right through this this rotten to the core government
