BRING IT ON: Iran declares war on VEXNEWS

VexvedwinastorieIn a move of stunning hilarity, Press TV, the official foreign news service of the notoriously vengeful, fatwah-issuing Islamic Republic of Iran has denounced this not particularly humble publication as a tool of “Western imperialism and global Zionism” for revealing the truth about one of its unlikely employees, Sydney correspondent Edwina Storie and her history of glamour modelling.

Flattery will get them everywhere.

The alleged news service claims that “Roderick Storie Solicitors” is “‘instructing independent solicitors in relation to defamation proceedings against’ the blog and its owner.” We understand Mr Storie to be Edwina Storie’s father, a former employee of one-time Liberal Senator Chris Puplick and flamboyant former Liberal Prime Minister Billy McMahon. Mr Storie was a “People not parties” candidate in the NSW Hawkesbury council election last year, failing to get elected although securing some 36 votes. The former Liberal now appears to be a strong critic of the party, recently denouncing NSW Premier O’Farrell for bridge-building.

We emphasise that there is no independent corroboration of Press TV’s representations about what Ms Storie or Mr Storie have said, although we have sought comment. As you will see, there are so many other errors or false statements in Press TV’s report, anything is possible.

Needless to say, we have not – yet – been sued by Ms Storie, although will alert readers if that occurs. If Ms Storie is feeling litigious, we suspect she’ll have her hands full, based on the number of those across the world who have picked up on the VEXNEWS exclusive.

edwinastorieflavourtripThe extraordinary attack – and claimed litigation – by the notoriously vengeful regime comes as the Edwina Storie saga becomes an international embarrassment for Press TV, with dozens of reports appearing around the world based on our initial revelations. The story has been widely reported in Europe, in Greece, Spain, France, Australia’s Herald Sun, Daily Telegraph and Courier-Mail, the Sydney Morning Herald and perhaps sweetest of all, in too many Persian free-Iran websites and forums to list that it warms the heart that we might have contributed just a little bit to those who yearn for Iran to be free.

In one of many falsehoods in its report, Press TV claims VEXNEWS published “private photos” of Ms Storie. That’s obviously incorrect, as they were in the public domain hosted by multiple sources, including a company in the business of providing glamour model photography to men’s magazines. The “private photos” were available to anyone capable of using Google, Facebook and the websites of a number of photographic agencies that are available to the public.

The claims by Press TV follow a global sensation involving Storie and her curious double life of representing an ultra-conservative and theocratic regime as a news “reporter” while also having worked as a glamour model and beauty pageant contestant.

In a first for VEXNEWS, and possibly for any Australian online news publication, we have been expressly denounced by the notoriously vengeful and fatwah-issuing foreign regime for criticising Ms Storie’s “change in her lifestyle, intellectual transformation and, above all, making anti-Zionist reports.” Readers will recall Storie’s two stories broadcast on Press TV included claims that Australian soldiers are war criminals and cheering on a boycott of Israel seemingly inspired by Nazi Germany.

In further claims attributed by the regime’s clearly not very effective “Public Relations Department” to Ms Storie, they:

CONCEDE the photographs of Ms Storie but insist they were taken seven years ago. In at least one case, one was published in “Men’s Health” magazine in 2009. Other photographs from one of many agencies in possession of her happy snaps, that we had previously decided not to publish show Ms Storie engaged in friendly embrace with another scantily-clad woman, with the photographs clearly dated October 2009, less than four years ago. In other cases, the photographs of Ms Storie enthusiastically consuming alcohol, publicly displayed on her Facebook page, were taken quite recently and are still publicly available to the present day;

EXPRESS REGRET for “having appeared in those photos,” photographs which are entirely lawful in Australia. It’s noted that the reason Press TV has had such trouble retaining its broadcast licence in Europe is its practice of airing forced confessions and self-criticism from former dissidents. It’s unclear whether that’s the case here but if it is it’s truly Orwellian;

CLAIM Ms Storie “tried in vain for years to have the photos removed,” a reasonably implausible suggestion given how freely available they were and the speed with which they were removed from one model agency website following our initial publication;

RECKON VEXNEWS “used unrealistic and very insulting descriptions about her” which is probably a reference to the descriptions of the photographs used by the agency that were mentioned in our first story. Ms Storie, who appears to have gone to considerable lengths to build an online brand, complete with domain name, and regular blog postings, should PressTV be believed, allowed those descriptions to be published unmolested for a period of seven years, only expressing concern about them now.

COUNTER-ATTACK, saying your beloved publisher was “implicated in a financial transaction scandal.” More falsehoods, or perhaps a case of the corrupt Iranian regime judging one Australian citizen by the standards prevailing in the Islamic Republic. This article “Millionaire Mullahs” makes it clear what goes on in Iran in terms of financial transaction scandals. The author was killed not long after the article was published in Forbes.

PUBLISH excoriating comments below the yarn, in suspiciously rapid speed following publication, denouncing VEXNEWS as akin to Rupert Murdoch:

You have to expect the zionist control of the western media. Australia is Rupert Murdoch’s home. Remember the criminal phone hackers in UK? The old hack was dragged before the parliamentary inquiry to be white washed. He bribed even the UK “squeaky” police and had his man in the british cabinet. The whole thing stinks. Iran needs its own Broadcasting satellite system.

ASSUME incorrectly your beloved publisher is Jewish, denouncing us as “sayanim” or a Mossad helper and/or “parasite.” Can you feel the hilarity? That commenter even demanded the regime assist Ms Storie in her claim to legally attack the VEXNEWS Zionist entity:

&#9632: USE the term Zionist as an insult, denouncing us but fearing that the Australian courts – presumably stacked with Zionists – won’t give their favourite glamour model a “fair hearing”:

i wish edwina good luck with the case against the zionist landeryou. however australia has been infected by zionism,and the chances of a fair hearing is minimal. but bringing it out in the open is good. they try their best to hide the truth. im sure that press tv wont let the case go unreported.

We’ve been careful in this story to distinguish between Press TV’s claims and what they attribute to their employee Ms Storie until we can confirm them. So it’s probably fitting to conclude with her own wise words from June last year:

  1. Not fully understand this whole “Edwina Storie affair”, I saw the photos, she is very beautiful woman & has no reason to be ashamed because of those photos.

    It appear that she is, dont understand why? What wrong with showing beauty? Many girls are possibly jealous (-:

  10. Iran does not like America nor the Zionist government in occupied Palestine. Iran is a hero nation.

    First fighting off Saddam then they closed the Yank embassy. We all remember the abortive rescue attempt of the Tehran embassy staff who were under the protection of the revolutionary guards and had a good laugh at Uncle Sam’s incompetence.

  14. I am very jealous of Vexnews – you have had a fatwa issued against you before I have had one issued against me.

    I congratulate you for your fearless reporting of the truth.

    I am disgusted by Adrian Jackson expressing how he laughed at the death of innocent Americans who tried to rescue the hostage embassy staff – “had a good laugh at Uncle Sam’s incompetence”.

    I do not regard it as a laughing matter – violating diplomatic territory is one of the most serious transgressions of international law.

    There is obviously a trite and trivial side to the embarrassment of Ms Storie but the serious issues of the Iranian regime’s hypocrisy and deceit have been highlighted once again. This is a pariah nation that will only become a legitimate country when its people are free.

  15. That’s a fatwa I’d like to see successfully implemented. To the Iranian government, pay me enough and then provide me asylum and I’ll do it for you, with great zeal and the sadism that the target deserves.
