HUGE WIN FOR PREMIER: Socialist Left faction resolve not to attend Monday’s Administrative Committee meeting

coupcollapses The Socialist Left ALP faction in Victoria had an emergency meeting at 11am today and resolved that its members would not attend Monday’s Administrative Committee meeting called to sack party secretary Steve Newnham.

Their decision is crucial because it means that there will be insufficient numbers of members of the Committee present to have a quorum, if members of Labor Unity and others opposed to Newnham’s removal also don’t attend.

It is considered a huge win for Premier John Brumby who had risked his authority in the Party by asking all involved to cease and desist.

The Left faction  have responded to the Premier’s wishes in a way that the Labor Unity faction used to do back in the day when the NUW/Storemen & Packers directed affairs in a responsible and sensible fashion.

When a senior Labor Unity source known to usually oppose Newnham but was horrified by the tactics employed here was asked by VEXNEWS what would happen now to the NUW and other plotters, their eloquent response was “They have a working majority (in the Right) without a shred of legitimacy. Their approach was to treat everyone else in the ALP like union organisers rather than act like figures of stature consulting and discussing. I have supported a change in a decent and honourable way. They have behaved like gangsters, who refuse to win hearts and minds, and have now managed to delay the whole thing for God knows how long. They can now suck it up.”

A patriot on the side of the plotters who will always enjoy VEXNEWS’s respect for his sound views admitted “this was amateurishly handled by people who don’t understand the organisational wing. It is now in the Premier’s hands for him to resolve. This hasn’t done Newnham any good though. JB will now sort this. If he wants to keep them til the next state election, he can.”

  14. My dear colleague Robin,
Not only were you properly rimmed without lubrication in Darebin, it seems as the though the lubrication has not been used again and that you will be continually fucked unlubricated. Watch out as you will be sliced and diced shortly!

  15. Vicminnow – your closing question is the pertinent one, particularly if the Premier really wants to ask “how the f*** did this happen?”. Dan’s the man.
