IN THE LYONS DEN: Greens party Darwin council candidate Simon Niblock promises “safer roads”

NTGreensThe Greens party’s cynicism knows no known limits. While they are usually opposed to plane and automobiles, and hope we all crowd on top of trains Indian-style, in the Northern Territory things are different so their cunning candidates cut their cloth accordingly. Everyone in Darwin is required by law to drive a ute, with a bull-bar capable of taking down cattle, roos and Southerners who stray on to the road.

So, their Darwin council candidate Simon Niblock is pledging “safer roads” in a page three ad in the world’s best newspaper, the NT News.

Curiously this same roads-friendly promise does not exist on his official website. Very, very sneaky.

There he refers only to bike paths and how keen a cyclist he is.

  1. The roads will be much safer when he mandates all motor vehicles be preceded by a person on a bicycle waving a red flag that says “Warning – danagerous vehicle following” – and limits the speed limit to 10 kilometres per hour (being the speed his stoned out friends can ssfely pedal at).
