Laurie Ferguson MP: “My style of politics is to be in the office all of the time” #auspol

Any politician who says: “My style of politics is to be in the office all of the time” should probably not stay in office much longer. Veteran Labor Lefty federal MP for Werriwa Laurie Ferguson has displeased his factional comrades and they’ve put up a younger Lefty rival Damian Ogden who reckons you have to reach out to people wherever you can find them.

There’s a preselection ballot on Saturday March 9th, with most expecting Ferguson to prevail.

  2. THE COMMENT ABOVE IS ONE OF THE MOST HONEST POSTED FOR A WHILE. It is irrefutably ‘spot on’ and needs to never be forgotten.

  3. Werriwa is the seat once held by Gough Whitlam and Mark Latham. It is in Western Sydney. It would be a very loud clarion call for the ALP if it were to lose Werriwa. In 2010, it was forced to preferences and the margin is around 7% – well within the firing line given the results of some of the polling.

Mark Latham was correct in describing the disconnect between the Inner City elites and the newer (from 1960) suburbs.
