POISONOUS CIRCLE JERK: Jeremy Smear a victim of cruel censorship

ubergeek Accused racist, Melbourne Grammar boy, not very busy barrister and Greens party executivard Jeremy ‘Smear’ Sear has compared his foes – including our beloved and apparently powerful publisher Andrew Landeryou – with Nazis on his latest blog Poison:

When they go after individuals, particularly far less powerful individuals without an equivalent forum for reply – when they pull a Landeryou or a Duncan – well, turning your head and walking on by seems even less defensible. If everyone just stands back and lets them intimidate easy targets from their keyboards, then they’ll keep doing it. Taking them on might be personally unwise, in the sense of offering an alternative mark, but it’s better than leaving them unchecked. Look the other way while they ravage Czechoslovakia, and bullies will soon have a go at Poland…

Such a loser.

If he wasn’t as broke as we are we’d consider suing him. Of course Smear – whose wife Melanie Hunt dumped him because he spent too much time playing with his Nintendo and a curious device named the ‘Fleshlight’ – has a very selective approach to bullying as one correspondent reminded him:

Hey, Jeremy, what about the jihad you declared on the parking officer at some Sunshine Coast airport. Posting his photo, ID and personal details online? And then slandering him? He was doing his job. Wasn’t charged with a crime. And you did far more than any sane newspaper would have done with a criminal. Do you a principle to suit your every behaviour, you unmitigated tool?

Smear eventually removed the photograph and personal details after the matter was referred to the frequently busy ethics committee of the Victorian Bar.

Tim Blair tears the fool apart in the most splendid way. He demonstrates that it appears that Eric Beecher’s loss-making e-newsletter Crikey has savagely censored the poor lad. And on his first day too. Boo hoo.

  1. This seems to be particularly vile.
