Having worked with Melissa, I can tell you the comments here are a travesty of her character. She is a hard-working, dedicated and discerning journalist.

By all means express your angst. But the gratuitous display of her snaps is absolutely tawdry.

That front page may have been a dud but if Melissa or her employers knew how much havoc it wreaked within the four walls of Greater Dandenong Council they would be breaking open the Krug(I am sure Melissa would like that)at what may unleash the story of the month? quarter? year? The fallout from a false front line has been journalistically astonishing.

What I don’t understand is what does journalism have to do with Mel’s private life. All of these comments are most likely left by people who have exactly the same photos of themselves having fun with their mates when their NOT working. How about instead of everyone attacking someone they don’t even know they go out and find something that they think is more important to write about.

I don’t understand why people aren’t allowed to have a social life and a career? This so called ‘party girl’ has still managed to produce some fantastic articles and maintain the respect of newspapers and people alike. Ministers are not ministers 24/7, they like to do drink to (WOW SHOCK). Teachers are not Teaches 24/7 they also have a life outside of work. I think these images show us that a person can have a life, have some fun and also work. Therefore, who ever has written this article and whoever has published these pictures are naive, ignorant and obviously neglect to have a life outside their job…and i feel sorry for you. Get a grip! get over it! Go attack and report on something worthwhile!

As a first time reader of this article and all the comments that have ensued I have realised two things:

1. people need to leave the poor girl alone- everyone is entitled to a private life that is no one’s business

and

2. A lot of you people have WAYYYY too much time on your hands. Maybe I’m not as “cool” as a lot of you, but writing stupid things for fun in response to an article is pretty lame to me. Get friends and get a life. Who reads stuff like this more than once anyone. I can’t help but laugh at the pathetic lives you must be living. HAHAHAHA
