Fresh from the faux controversy over young Liberals promoting their cause by citing the glamorous qualities of their talent, comes an enterprising young Year 12 chap Simon Kroger who is running for Liberal State Council this weekend.

Krogger Senior was a hero and patriot during his University days. He fought hard to relieve students from the burden of AUS membership fees. Membership that provided little to no benefits to its members. I remember when as a student of RMIT, even though we were numerically the biggest student body in Australia, we were ignored by the professional student activists that made up the AUS Soviet council.
Michael Krogger fought to free us from this burden and national disgrace.
He fought to liberate students from the forced membership of a student union that provided no benefit and no value.
Michael Krogger will always be remembered as a true hero of democratic right values.
He was also the liberal pin up boy with all the girls.
If his son is half the reformer and political activist as his old man he would be a true asset to the Liberal Party and its future.

If he was born in 1991 that makes him 18. He is no longer a minor which cuts out at 16 does it not? You can leave home at 15, get a learners permit at 17 and charged adult fares on public transport and planes. And he is old enough to vote at the next State and Federal election.

Anon, you miss the point. It isn’t about the detail in Bio but the rhetoric attached to the article. A young guy wanting to be involved shouldn’t be the target for mischief relating to his parents activities who as adults made their own decisions. Sins (perceived) of the parents should not be born out on the son or even implied.

As for the concerns about him being 17 and mentioned on VEX, we’re quite comfortable about it as long as no addresses or contact details are displayed.
Anyone old enough to run for internal party office is old enough to be on VEXNEWS.
I can’t think of anyone more appropriate to be on an important administrative body than Simon T Kroger. He has been in school for 12 years. He has handed out how to vote cards. His surname is Kroger. What more must he do?

Simon Kroger elected number 4- glad to see the Libs are rewarding effort, contribution and dedication and rising above the Kroger name. I suppose his mum and dad are happy and can arrange to pick him up from school to drop him off at the meetings.
I say good luck to him, if he’s passionate about politics, has the sophistication and brains to succeed, then his age should have little relevance to his suitability as a candidate.

The Australian drought has obviously severely affected the Liberal talent pool, when we see 17 year old boys being elected to the State Assembly.
