Essendon supporter and Brighton MLA Louise Asher is less than content at the minute, bayside Tory insiders tell VEXNEWS. The deputy Liberal leader is very unhappy with being sidelined by an increasingly arrogant current state Liberal Leader Red Ted Baillieu.
She complains that they “are not as close as they once were” to party members who’ll listen. Not managing his relationship with Asher could be a grievous error by the tall leader of Liberal Lefties.
It could be backfire hugely on Ted given Lasher’s role in the Baillieu support group, Kroger vanguardists have told VEXNEWS.
There is an outside chance that her frustration with Baillieu could be enough to cause her departure from Parliament, as early as this round of preselections or prior to the state election being called. Of course, that could turn on a dime, if the Liberals poll numbers start to increase as many party strategists expect.
Speaking to local Party members recently, Lasher teared up and reckons she’s undervalued and excluded by Baillieu’s office, particularly the former umbrella importer and shrewd COS Michael Kapel who knows deadweight when he sees it.
Some of those observing thought her tired and emotional. Others feared some kind of emotional disturbance had taken hold. Perhaps it was just spending a day with Ted that would drive any decent person to tears.
Rumoured successor from the Baillieu camp is former ministerial staffer and author of books about the Liberal party that managed not to cause too much offence, Margaret Fitzherbert.
She will be vigorously opposed by elements loyal to Michael Kroger and local sub-lord Andrew Robb. More likely to get the nod would be Kroger footsoldiers include the serial candidate but quality offering Ross Fox.
The numbers will be pretty tight in the event of a contest, insiders tell VEXNEWS.
The smart money will be on Robb’s dog in the fight.
Another name doing the rounds of David Davis’s enemies who are determined to destroy his faction root and branch should Team Baillieu lose the next state election is forestry titan Rob de Fegely who is a Kroger man who keeps in tight with the federal member.
de Fegeley ran Robb’s successful fundraising outfit “the Bayside Forum” and was regarded as a good operator. He has played a leadership role in the Goldstein FEC too as its chair.
The seasoned politically experienced businessman could be just what the Libs need to get serious in Brighton, insiders say.
Louise Asher, upon realising that RDR was about to enter the upper house, bravely let go of her seat in that chamber, and switched to the lower house. she deserves the praise of all patriots
VexNews is the online vigilante site for right-wing Labor and Liberal thugs. Shame on you for opposing party reform.
Our local councillor and liberal stalwart Lorraine Wreford would be a great replacment. Why don’t party leaders realise what a gem Lorraine is.
I hope Louise goes – she’s had a fair go at it.
While still young at heart (50?) she lost the spark, drive, ethusiasm … for politics a number of years ago. It’s a pity because I would have liked her to have been Leader a few years ago. At her best she is very good.
I spoke today with a former Admin member who said that there would be a large field running for Brighton if she retires. Quality candidates from around the place who could go pretty much straight to the front bench.
Names? various business people. My bet would be on Snell or Glynn – people that wouldn’t necesarily have the glossy brochure appeal but would add the political smarts to the front bench. Clearly these sklls are in short supply. Snell has broad factional support and lives in the area. Glynn lives in the next electorate I think.
Rox Fox is seen as a real party talent by most but is better suited to winning one of the marginals. He is one of the Krogerites real warriors.
Re Shardey v David S – it will be a cake walk (sorry).
What do you mean Snell doesnt have glossy brochure appeal? Can’t you imagine that big doofus bulbus head of his on all the liberal material? simply gorgeous, and thankfully, there is no “th” sound in the name brighton, so no embarrasment will be caused
Brighton is my divine right
The outer eastern suberbs and the country seats will be the ones to watch for pre-selections. I predict talent coming along in the years to come.
why is Ratty Ross ratty?
She can stay home with me and ‘lash’ me.
Something is wrong in Victoria, ie Richard Dalla Riva.
I am not ratty. RDR is the rat. That’s why he is called Rat Dog Riva.
I am still a bit unsure about my sexuality.
What is there to be unsure about?
But who will topple the ineffective and unpopular leftard Joanne Duncan in Macedon.
Greens and independent preferences got her over the line last time and the greens are talking about unseating sitting members this time round. It may be a moot point given that Jo Jo is on the nose and a key Brumby staffer/ apparatchik has quietly moved to Gisborne and is poised to spring.
Local ALP councillor Ann Potter has been biding her time but may lose out to a right wing Brumby warrior. Meanwhile the Liberals flounder in the wilderness. Futile attempts have been made to court Grant Reynolds a former Sunbury police officer now barrister and the son of former popular local liberal member Tom Reynolds.
Reynolds is not even interested in rejoining the party left alone standing as a candidate, preferring to opt for the genteel life of the bar
The rest of the Macedon posse with an average age of 104 would be hard pressed to stand up out of a jason recliner let alone stand for parliament. Macedon has been practically conceded by 104 as not viable even though notionally is should be a 1-2% Liberal held seat.
That said they will probably trot out ageing country squire Robyne Head again and await the rout.
Maybe I should run for preselection for Macedon?
I will run for anything; anytime, anywhere
You all must vote for me. And then I will rat on you.
Why is everyone always questioning my integrity?
Kelly. Rorts. Lies.
Don’t worry, KOD, people question my integrity all the time.
To the Berwick Resident, thank you oh so much for the lovely comments and show of faith you have shown me. Unfortunatley, I don’t think I will be pre-selected as I have to wait a few years for my name to drop of all those internet chat lines that I have used in the past to seduce young men. Once my name is no longer evident, I will no doubt be pre-selected for any seat in the South East I request.
