FLASH: Andy Richards withdraws from Calwell race

Geelong councillor Andy Richards has withdrawn his nomination for the federal seat of Calwell.

Socialist Left sources say their rebel splinter group associated with ceremonial AMWU boss Steve Dargavel surrendered completely without the SL offering the “Left Unions” any concessions.

“The blackmail attempt failed. There’s enough egg on Workers’ First faces to produce the world’s biggest omelette,” a well-connected Left source said before heading out for a big steak lunch of celebration to commemorate their massacre of rebel forces.

  3. urr news flash -the splinter group consists of more than the amwu
the only stable agreement in place at the moment is the alliance between the sda/nuw/hsu/cfmeu/amwu.
the left should not count their chickens before they hatch
watch out carr they are coming for you

  4. Andy Richards is the most pathetic piece of shit that has ever walked the hallowed halls of trades hall.

Not even Joe De Bryn would be crazy enough to come out and say that the DLP represent the centre of Australian politics.

  5. Ahh Boohan you should have had the balls to run, but your problem is the SDA/NUW isn’t really willing to back you. You will continue to be used and abused. This was meant to be your seat. You were meant to be groomed for this seat instead you get your petty little jobs and a spot on the council. Face it the SDA will continue to look at you the same way labor unity has for years “a mid aged turk with the bleached hair”

  6. North-west Melbourne has missed a great opportunity to elect a statesman of the masses, rather than a Carr apologist.
A true renaissance man, Richards would have would have been the Piep Piper of the disparate ethnic masses of Broady, bringing them together as one unified force against Carr mediocrity.
Reds Are Better In Bed, you underestimate the filth the right and left wing unions have deposited in Lygon Street over many years, and you should probably go back to the Armenian Alliance Against the Improper Use of Party Fundraising Material meeting you left to post your nasty comment.
And while the City of Geelong is the real winner here, it’s just Wong…apologies to Arthur Calwell.

  7. Disappointing for Calwell members. We deserve proper representation & leadership instead of dividing the various ethnic groups.

  8. Damn, I just had a tattoo of Andy added to my arse cheek next to my Toyota logo. Can someone tell me if laser removal hurts??

  9. The tat on your arse should have been AndO and we all know what comes out the Big ‘O’ – and Andy is FULL of it!

  12. Booorhan? You presume we are now going to stop! Oh no, we will now implement a good old Napoleon tactic at the end of a battle. If you dont know what that is go and do some reading. When is your 50th birthday by the way? Still no seat?

  13. Vamvakinou/Carr have conquered Calwell..goodbye SDA-BURHAN-AMWU-CFMEU!

  14. The real loser here is the Labor party and the public. They get another three years of an out of touch MP who doesn’t live in the area, and practices the worst kind of race based exclusion, dividing brother from brother and sister from sister. and Ian Jones is a low rent bottom feeding parasite from another era anyway.

  15. Chicken shit. Now we’ll keep another no-hoper in the Canberra big house. Stuff the electorate…

  16. Well done Boohan you switched in kororiot against your turkish comrades and sold your a$$ to the hard catholics. You actually thought you were going to get a seat and look what you got absolutely peanuts. And you pray to god five times a day. Keep praying mate because by the time you get a seat you will be dead.

  19. No problems Ann, we would like you to vote informal because god help us if you have enough intellect to cast a vote. You must feel a little pissed off at the fact that you have again backed someone’s horse? Only this time that horse was a broken down mule.

  20. Apologies but I do not know where else to post this one. But, I hear that there was a labor Politics in the Pub a few nights back. Bill Shorten and Rob Hulls. Only the latter needed a map to find the place, down the road from his electorate office, as he barely knows his electorate and certainly shop keepers do not recognise this mut. Hulls also reportedly left early as he has no idea how to communicate with people, and this is proven by the amount of social functions he himself has organised since winning his seat. the count is one, this week.

  21. the voters of calwell need better represenation in Canberra….the ALP has gone totally feral…..Go the Greens…

    Posted by Ozzie | July 18, 2009, 13:59
  22. Greens will never be the answer in Calwell. AMWU official would have at least made sure that we had bread on the table.

    Posted by anon | July 18, 2009, 19:29
  23. The greens!

LOL would you rather they be effing over each other like in Tasmania? Atleast they wouldn’t be effing over the electorate like the ALP.

    Posted by Dark Horse | July 18, 2009, 19:32
  24. We would have made sure that even if the AMWU challenge had got 90% on the local ballot, we would have squashed the result.

  25. Still reckon Ann can deliver the goods on this one. Come on people she is the only logical choice.

Posted by Phil of Goonie | July 18, 2009, 21:05
  26. Sorry Phil of Goonie but boohan would be the logical choice but the problem is the SDA wont throw there support behind him. He has worked so hard for so many years for what? Spot on council come on.

  28. I am told Andy Richards withdrew from Calwell because the AMWU did not believe the promises made to them by the Kurdish branches there. Cr Enver Erdogan was sprung trying to blackmail both sides of the SL into supporting him in Brunswick. Too smart by half. Now both sides of the SL won’t trust him, and he will finish with nothing.

    Posted by Kurd-eld | July 20, 2009, 12:09
  29. Kurds promised their vote to AMWU before the withdrawal. Now that the SL has backed someone else in Brunswick, Kurds are with NUW/SDA/AMWU/CFMEU alliance.

  30. arnt the kurds a terrorist orgainisation?

    Posted by Anonymous | July 20, 2009, 16:34
  31. Jane Garrett 98 votes. Cr Enver Erdogan 59 votes. Alice Pyror 23 votes. A massive defeat for the Kurds and their blackmailing ways! The SDA/NUW, the AMWU/CFMEU and the ShortCons and the Kim Carr SL are now all lining up to smack Enver! That’s the end of him!
