READY TO FIGHT: Tim Holding missing after mountain hike

timholdingthefighter One of Victoria’s most senior and hard-working ministers, Tim Holding, is missing on Mount Feathertop after a weekend snow-hike.

His partner, the Sunday Herald Sun’s chief reporter Ellen Whinnett, is believed to have raised the alarm after he didn’t confirm his arrival at a mountain hut as scheduled yesterday.

He is out of mobile phone contact and the weather conditions are bad causing considerable concern.

There was a sighting of him at 10am yesterday and was due to return to the hut by 4pm.

However as the Australian’s Rick Wallace explains, Tim Holding is a very well-experienced hiker, an ex Army Reservist who takes all necessary equipment including a tent, food and thermal gear when hiking.

Armed with all that, a person as physically fit as Holding can last for a considerable period of time even in the poor conditions up there.

Our prayers are with him and his loved ones.

  4. I would never vote for the ALP, but I am hoping that the minister makes it back safe and sound so that we can defeat him politically next year. :)

  6. Maybe Steve Staikos won’t have to make a decision between being an EO or being a Kingston Councillor after all.

  7. Just got my daily copy of Namless

No mention of Tim’s plight, just the usual lefty drivel and navel gazing

Good to see VEXNEWS still no1 when it comes to keeping us up to date on the real stories

  8. Maybe the Russians are back – Harry Holt taken in submarine & Timmy Holding taken in flying saucer.

  9. Timmie will overcome this hurdle. I just hope that he has a good excuse when he gets found. The public are getting a little tired of bushwalkers who get themselves lost.

  15. Irresponsible that he didnt have an EPIRB. A skilled hiker would have known to take one. They are compulsory in Tasmanian bushwalks.

  19. As a long time enemy of the ALP and serious disliker of Holding I can’t believe the crass and vile comments eminating from some on this blog.

I hope he is found safe and well.
    You’re in my prayers Tim.

  20. Agreed anonymous, the level that some stoop too is unbelievable.

Regardless of your personal politics, the fact you feel it is appropriate to vent your spleen on a man while he and his family endure the darkest of hours is just… beyond words.

Some of the comments in here typify so succinctly what is wrong with Victoria, it is not the Labor party, nor Liberal, nor any other. It is the fact that people, including people in this forum – some of whom no doubt aspire to higher office (if they don’t already hold it), have no concept of humanity or human decency.

    It is just sick.

I hope Tim, his family, friends and supporters come through this unscathed. He may never get my vote, but as human being in troubled times, he will always get my support.

  27. It’s highly likely that the tasteless comments posted on this blog are made by persons who are: party hacks,in their twentys, have zero life and work experience, and have no concept of the ideals on which Australia’s political parties are built upon.

You lot are nothing but a bunch of humourless, and heartless onanists with substandard equipment.

Get a life, find and/or create someone to love, and hope you will never lose them.

I’m thinking about you and your family Tim.

Maybe I am a mountian dog that hunts particular water ministers? Probably not much meat left now anyway. Bloody foxes!

  35. I hope Tim Holding is found safely. My second hope is that the losers who continually post the most vile crap on this site realise how pathetic they look to others. I thought that a story like this would at least be a place where people could rise above politics for 5 minutes. Clearly not. Do they even realise how gutless and childish they look abusing people with false or annon names?

  45. Tim Holding goes missing for 5 minutes, and the media goes nuts. His shadow, Louise Asher, has been missing for 9 years, and the media hasn’t said a word.
