Liberal lefty and Victorian upper house leader David Davis has got to decide whether he’s going to continue to attack the state government from the left or actually have a go at winning.
The buffoon – once engaged to Liberal preselection candidate in Wannon Louise Staley before she sensibly move on – has attacked a significant new residential development planned for Alphington.
The Greens party and Socialist dominated Yarra council is essentially in favour of a development on what is called the Amcor site and it seems Labor government planning guidelines will allow it too.
And yet David Davis who would claim he’s a pro-investment kinda guy at a Liberal fundraiser talks out the other side of his mouth when briefing the inner-city local media. He told one local scribe:
“Labor’s development planned for the Amcor site will likely see a loss of open space opportunities along the river and another ugly high density development being imposed on the community,” Mr Davis said.
There’s nothing wrong with him opposing the government, as the Leader of the Opposition in the upper house, that’s his job.
But it’s hard to imagine someone who aligns himself with the can-do former Liberal Premier Jeff Kennett attacking a significant new development of this kind. Kennett lifted many of the unnecessary and job-destroying government and bureaucratic restrictions on progress that had built up in the Hamer/Cain/Kirner era that took prosperity for granted until it practically drove Victoria off a cliff.
Davis reveals on his website that he is a member of “Birds Australia”, an environmental activist group. Quite an appropriate choice for the third highest ranking Victorian Liberal, because he’s clearly away with them.
Shame D-squared shame
David Davis is a very effective, hardworking member of parliament.
He is so effective that the labor party will use all their resources against him, like this rag.
He is political filth, abd thats what his own side think of him.
