END OF AN ERA: Stephen Newnham congratulated by Victorian ALP for his record of success, Reece and Carroll appointed as his successor
The following motion was passed unanimously by the Victorian ALP Administrative Committee this morning, accepting Stephen Newnham’s resignation, appointing Nick Reece for a fixed term as his successor until the state election and then Noah Carroll who in the mean-time serves as First Assistant Secretary:
The Administrative Committee thanks Stephen Newnham for his efforts and accomplishments in his time as State Secretary and in particular note the series of state, federal and by-election wins that the Victorian Branch of the Australian Labor Party has achieved during his term.
The Administrative Committee records its determination to dedicate the full efforts of the Victorian Branch of the ALP to the 2010 State and Federal Campaigns.
The Administrative Committee:
(a) Resolves to rescind its motion of 13th May 2005 appointing Stephen Newnham to the position of State Secretary & Campaign Director.
(b) Accepts the resignation of Stephen Newnham effective as of September 15th 2009.
(c) Authorizes Party Officers to enter into discussions with Stephen Newnham regarding the arrangements to finalize the terms of the severance of Stephen Newnham’s employment as State Secretary consistent with clause 15 of the Officials Enterprise Agreement 2008-2011.
(d) Appoints Nick Reece as State Secretary & Victorian Campaign Director on a fixed contract as of 15th September 2009 to expire on 31st January 2011.
(e) Appoints Noah Carroll as 1st Assistant State Secretary. In addition, Noah Carroll is appointed to succeed Nick Reece as State Secretary & Campaign Director on 1st February 2011.
(f) Establishes a review of tasks to be conducted by John Lenders and Stephen Newnham that sets out in specific terms the roles of the State Secretary and First Assistant Secretary. This review is to be finalized within 14 days.
(g) Agrees to appoint an Assistant State Secretary/Federal Campaign Director to be paid as a full time Victorian Branch position by 30 September 2009, failing which the National Secretary will so appoint.
(h) Confirms the position of Kosmos Samaras as Assistant State Secretary
(i) Appoints an agreed person to do a Campaign Audit for the Victorian State Election Campaign. This audit will report back to Party Officers.

I wish to express congratulations and thanks to Stephen Newnham. His leadership and campaign skills have contributed to the Victorian ALP’s success both Federally and State wide. He will be a hard act to follow.

Like she was meant to wipe out branch stacking and fake membership all on her own? If SN took some leadership on that issue her job would have been a lot easier.
I am an everyday member with no standing in the party and lisa is the only one at head office who actually returns calls to people like me and she actually talks to people outside her faction.
Also she’s just a nice person. Not everyone in the ALP has to be an arsehole.
