MAD MAL: Fraser to speak up for Hamas terrorist organisation
Former Liberal Prime Minister Malcolm Fraser continues to embarrass his party, this time threatening to speak publicly in defence of Hamas, the anti-semitic, Israel hating Palestinian terrorist organisation.
He plans on speaking on behalf of engagement with Hamas terrorists in a debate at Monash University. You can’t blame a debater for the side of the argument they’ve been given but it’s clearly more than that, it’s an expression of his heartfelt opinion, according to those familiar with the debate organisation to be held next month at Monash. Hamas is one of the most murderous and fanatic terror organisations of our time according to the usually lefty academic leaning Wikipedia which makes it clear that:
the Hamas Charter and statements by Hamas leaders are believed by some to be influenced by antisemitic conspiracy theories. According to the Jerusalem Center for Public Affairs, Hamas is also anti-capitalist, and believes that the free market economy is against Islamic teachings. Hamas is described as a terrorist organization by the governments of Canada, the European Union, Israel, Japan, and the United States. Australia and the United Kingdom list the military wing of Hamas, the Izz ad-Din al-Qassam Brigades, as a terrorist organisation.
Fraser is well-experienced in defending the indefensible, from his government’s somnolent economic policies to being sworn in as PM in circumstances most regard as highly dubious.
The long-time former PM seized power in 1975 and held onto it til 1983. Has been described very aptly by a political commentator reflecting on his recent works:
Fraser is the Jimmy Carter of Australian politics: A man who could have and should have achieved so much, but actually did so little that he is now searching for a legacy.
Jimmy Carter has dragged his reputation through the mud by associating with some well-monied Israel haters.
Fraser seems to be going on a similarly sleazy frolic, lining up [pdf] with many who aim to make out like bandits from various Middle East kleptocracies who serve on the Centre for Arab and Islamic Studies. Is he doing all this to enhance his once filthy reputation with the Australian Left who used to burn him in effigy or to do some ‘bizniz’ in the Middle East?
Either way, his fall from grace is very sad indeed. And embarrasing for the party that gave him everything including a very successful political career.

The Centre for Arab and Islamic Studies has very little to do with the Israel/Palestinian conflict. The only people from the Middle East on the list of board members you’ve linked to are (3) from Dubai.

How can Malcolm Fraser, who is, according to the Jewish religion, a Jew (because he has a Jewish mother), support the enemies of Israel?

Malcolm Fraser is not Jewish. His mother, Una Wolff, was the daughter of a Jewish father and a gentile mother. Jewishness is matrilineal, so neither Una nor Malcolm qualifies.
