Respected conservative political strategist Ted Lapkin has been hounded out of Liberal leader Ted Baillieu’s office by what one observer calls a “ruling Petro Georgiou aligned clique”.
Lapkin, who had been working at the Australia Israel Jewish Affairs Council, moved to Australia after working for prominent Republican Congressmen in the United States.
He is said to have been “amazed and appalled” by the prevailing left-wing ethos in Baillieu’s office, demonstrated by a stridently hostile view against the United States. He has told friends that Baillieu seemed “pre-occupied by internal factional power-games”.
On July 4th, in celebration of Independence Day, Lapkin had taken in a cake for his office comrades to share in patriotic fervour. Ted’s press spokesman, Simon Troeth, was having none of it and reportedly let rip with a series of anti American epithets.
By contrast, insiders claim that Gladys Liu insisted that the Chinese New Year be celebrated with Beijing approved flags and a luncheon where “all-hands” in the Leader’s office were expected to attend and toast repressive regimes.
Troubled informants say Petro Georgiou, a mentor of both Ted Baillieu and his Chief of Staff Michael Kapel, gave the word that Lapkin had to be “boned” because his views were “extreme” and “off-message”.
An appalled Senator Michael Ronaldson has recruited Lapkin as one of his advisers, with the Senator telling colleagues that “Our Ted would be a better state leader than Red Ted.”
Thank god for Petro, a true Liberal hero and patriot.
[...] RED TED: Leader’s office shrieks “Death to America” in between faction fights [...]
Has my time come yet? Pleeeeze!
Malcolm Fraser likes Petro and hates America. He could work for Ted.
simon troeth is a geeky twerp
Anyone want a fried hotdog?
What will be Simon Troeth’s next trick? Wearing Arafatesque head gear?
What happened to the old Colin Rubenstein adoring and Australia/Israel Review editing Michael Kapel? The old Kapel would never put up with anti americanism from Troeth or anti semitism from Chandler.
