This wouldn’t be a problem for Mr Rann had he not consistently adopted a high moral ground stance to the extent that his entire credibility as Premier is based PURELY on his moral fibre. Do I think sexual relations between consenting adults wrong? Yes you are right disbeliever, school contracts do finish at the end of the school year. The reasons they dont get renewed could be one of many, the position has ended or the school no longer can fund the position. School budgets are largely based on student numbers and if there is a drop funding extra admin staff is extremely difficult.

So it is a supreme irony that Rann has now been tried by his own Media Court creation, and quite predictably has been found wanting. Of course it is all very unfair to him; yet so was the Rann’s Media Court treatment of Tom Easling and the late John Mountford.

I have known Michelle for a number of years – her story is true. The fact that they were both so stupid is their business. The fact that Mike Rann has consistently denied this, talks directly to his credibility and honesty as Premier. “Media Mike” – it is your turn to have the media attentiopn again – just not in your control this time.

If I had my way I would pass a law that made it a criminal offence for the media, all forms, radio, tv, newspapers, etc, to publish any information about a persons sex life without their written consent and the consent of any other party involved. It would carry mandatory 20 years jail for reporters, editors, and all other people involved in compliling these stories.

Of course I did not see anything of the sort. However, I have been privvy to enough conversation to know that you could not make anything up like that – and this was some years ago now. Michelle is not the smartest blade in the drawer, and was obviously attracted to the power thing. (What else could it have been????) Rann however, has no such excuse. He just wanted a root basically. And that is cool if he was not involved with someone else – but to deny it so shamelessly, that leaves me really cold. “I did not sex with that woman” – is so yesterday – Clinton did that already – except it was “I did not have sexual relations with that woman”. I don’t understand why Michelle did this – she will pay a big price, and all the money in the world won’t make up for whatever money she has received. But I don’t believe a politician who has been elected based on the trust of the people, should be able to abuse their trust with outright lies. How could anyone trust Mike Rann again? He could have averted this all by just admitting to it, and it would have gone away. Regardless of whether Micehlle has or has not done the right thing, this is now about more than that. It is about the trust we put in your elected representatives – and we do not expect them to outright lie.
