TSK TSK: Susie will shame but not name

Sanctimonious Susie O’Brien in the pages of the Herald Sun and Adelaide Advertiser today pontificated most self-righteously about Premier Mike Rann and his alleged bimbo eruption.

She insists that sex scandals involving politicians are appropriate for public consumption. Fair enough, but not everyone agrees. We’re willing to keep an open mind as long as the accusers are ready to be judged alongside their targets.

If they want to play in the mud, they’re going to get dirty.

Not many Australians will agree with O’Brien’s view:

Having sex with a married woman isn’t a sackable offence for a male Australian politician. But it should be.

But she’s entitled to her views no matter how kooky and bizarre they might be. Family First/Fred Nile need to get support from somewhere.

In South Australia of course the complication is that Premier Rann’s denial was emphatic and convincing, certainly more so than the paid media tart with her $70-200,000 cheque burning in her pocket.

O’Brien implies a lot of male politicians are horny liars:

Trust me, in my time covering politics I’ve seen enough of these relationships first-hand to know what goes on.And I’ve been hit on by more than one married politician looking for a bit on the side.

And Susie herself is married. To an entity no less than a staffer for Senator Nick Xenophon, Rowan Wenn, occasionally whispered to be a potential Senate candidate himself, although this has been vigorously denied by him.

We don’t normally mind O’Brien’s work. And Wenn is at least fusing Xenophon into a working joint venture with Today Tonight – complete with joint operations taking on the cads at the ‘Church’ of Scientology – so he can’t be all bad.

But by her own logic that sex with the married should be deemed misconduct worthy of removal from office, Ms O’Brien should surely spill the beans on these rapacious married politician hypocrites who deserve to be shamed for succumbing to their rampaging throbbing lusts.

But she won’t. Because hiding behind her stupid slapped-together column today, there lurks an author with a well-disguised sense of decency and proportion. So she’ll keep private things private.

Qualities certainly lacking in the South Australian skank Michelle Chantelois who has – most probably falsely – accused “Mike Rann” (as she insists on calling him) for profit and try to win back the heart of the husband who booted her out on the street.
