We don’t often agree with the Herald Sun’s Jill Singer. But she has nailed the sanctimonious pious rantings of her colleague Susie O’Brien and left-wing newsletter publisher Eric Beecher and two of his occasional writers Hendrik Gout from Adelaide and politician Councillor Stephen Mayne on the Mike Rann issue.
She writes:
The saga over South Australian Premier Mike Rann’s alleged sexual indiscretion makes me sick as a woman and a journalist…
Chantelois’ estranged husband, Richard Phillips, says Rann took advantage of her youthful naivety. Pull the other one. She was not young when the alleged affair took place, nor in any position to claim naivety. Chantelois was a mature, married woman and a mother, working in a job serving alcohol. She was not working as some impressionable political intern or work experience student.
She does a fine job in identifying the flaws in what has passed for reporting on the issue.
Michelle is separated from her husband, who may be off to prison soon so she has just done it for the money
