The NT News is a never-ending source of amusement, described as the favourite journal of the newspaper scouring PMO staff, according to Kevin Rudd.
Today, it excelled itself, splashing with a story about a federal MP and a local footballer having a non-violent but hostile exchange at a nightclub.
Good story but the NT News take on it seemed almost critical that they hadn’t actually come to blows, writing “apparently there was no violence – just words and handbags at 10 paces.”
Clearly in a good mood, a cheerful subby declared on another story on the appointment of a new Chancellor at Charles Darwin University that “Thomas lands university head’s job".” How very tasteful.
Elsewhere in today’s Darwin paper, there is a vox pop on the topical issue “Would you eat a cane toad?”
There’s really nothing like it.
The editorial of todays NT News calls on Damien Hale to cut back on the booze. That must be saying something about this “patriots” intake to have the NT News say he drinks too much!
“Politician eats footballer, turns into cane toad” – now THAT’s a headline.
You’ve overlooked this headline from earlier this week. “Shocks and amazes” hardly begins to cover it.
Pure genius.
