POLITICKING: Victorian Governor called on to resign over political campaigning furore

dekretser There have been demands for the resignation of the Governor of Victoria David de Kretser after revelations he is the keynote speaker at an event described as a “mass convergence” of climate change activists at the Melbourne Hall.

In a strangely political move by the apolitical office-holder, he is listed as “presenting the case for a safe climate” and the site makes clear he is speaking in an official capacity alongside Greens party senator and leadership heir-apparent Christine Milne.

Popular Liberal state MP Bernie Finn has condemned the move telling VEXNEWS and argues the Governor is politicising the role by involving the office of Governor in what has become a clearly partisan political issue:

My point is that it is not the role of the Governor to be using his position to promote any political agenda, in fact, it is a clear breach of that role.

The fact that he has chosen to lead the climate change bedwetters is largely immaterial – his is an entirely non-political position.

If he goes ahead with opening the climate panicfest on Valentines Day, he has forfeited his claim on the Governorship and should resign.

If he wants to be involved in politics, that is his right – but not as Governor.

The Governor is believed to be re-considering whether he should address the “mass convergence”. As well he should. It is clearly a political minefield that he is about to go stomping across.

  6. Justice Osborn said that in his view Mr Brouwer failed to follow usual practice set up in the legislation and therefore the “hearing was not conducted before a competent tribunal of law’’.

  7. Dad – mainly because Ted will do anything to avoid a fight. Unless it’s with members of his own party, of course.

  9. Ted is too smart to associated himself with anything raised by that idiot Finn.

Just thinking about Finn … if you squinted a bit, and imagined his hair in a nice shade of Tasmanian red … you could imagine you were seeing the ghost of Pauline Hanson.

  13. Now lets see; on the one hand we have science; on the other conspiracy theories involving the entire science community, the united nations, and most of the leaders of the free world.

The “popular Liberal state MP Bernie Finn” comes out and states that the the Governor should resign because he comes out on the side of science.

Who is the sillies, Finn for making the statement or VEXNEWS for claiming Finn is popular? It’s a hard call.

  14. “Popular Liberal state MP Bernie Finn”

Who is he popular with, exactly? He’s a retard; any slower and he’d fall over. His “popularity” can surely only be attributable to the fact he’s hilarious!

Sitting next to Inga the Hutt in the Upper House, the pair come over as a latter-day Statler and Waldorf, i.e. hectoring muppets!
