The Australian’s Rebecca Urban seems unimpressed by Premier Investments’ chairman Solomon Lew’s claims that he had “predicted a financial crisis”:
Solomon’s dire prediction
BEHOLD the Nostradamus of Collins Street — Solomon Lew.
“If you go back to the last day of March and the early days of April, I predicted … a financial crisis on a global basis,” Lew declared yesterday during a teleconference to discuss results from his Premier Investments and recently acquired fashion chain, Just Group.
However, a quick look back at Lew’s pronouncements of the time reveals that the strongest language employed was in reference to “increased share market volatility, declining consumer confidence and escalating uncertainty for the outlook of the Australian, New Zealand and international economies”. Not a word on the collapse of some of Wall Street’s largest denizens.
