NOT SHY: Sarah Hanson-Young challenges Christine Milne for deputy leadership

SA Greens Senator Sarah Hanson-Young has thrown the first Palestinian-style rock of resistance against the older generation Stalinists largely in control of the extreme-left party, by challenging snarly old lady Christine Milne for the deputy leadership of the Australian Greens in the weeks after the August federal election. The Greens are refusing to comment on the saga and revelations of it were first made on SKY NEWS this morning.

Sarah is believed to have struggled to gain support within her group of comrades although many interpret her move as a shot across the bow on the question of leadership transition when pension-age Senator Bob Brown shuffles off at the conclusion of his term.

The superannuation millionaire Bob Brown has all but publicly endorsed fellow Taswegian Milne as his annointed leadership successor. Milne is 57 years old and wouldn’t be expected to become leader until her 60s. Milne has had many of years of experience as a Brown staffer and acolyte, leading the Greens in the Tasmanian Parliament after Brown’s departure and forming a coalition government with the Liberals from 1996 to 1998.

It’s clear Sarah Hanson-Young has other ideas and might look forward to an entente lentil with incoming Senator and leftist firebrand Lee Rhiannon, whose son was recently convicted of drug trafficking offences after hundreds of thousands of dollars of cash and marijuana was found on his premises.

The differences among the Greens on ideological and generational grounds have been well-managed under the intolerant leadership of Bob Brown. As he grows older, he might have more and more trouble restraining troublesome youths like SHY.

If SHY is able to win the hearts and minds of the newly elected Senators and Comrade Adam Bandt, her elevation to the leadership is just a matter of time and it won’t matter what old-timers like Bob Brown think. Hanson-Young has made her intentions very clear.

  1. perhaps she will introduce a very evangelical christian prayer prior to the begining of each caucus and a dance on the parliament greens to ward off evil spirits before putting on the mask of evil greeny anto churchite to scaremonger among the population.

  2. They should make her leader in a Natasha Stot Despoia memorial type of way. It worked so well for the dems.

So much for an open party. I suppose a party that believes in communism/socialism isn’t about democracy and openness. Just living up to that.

  6. Kinda ironic coming from the Greens – the party that likes to ramble on about openness, freedom, civil liberties etc … that they tried to suppress the details of this leadership spill

  7. Jebus you are spot on. It is more like the behaviour of a Leninist sect or party.

  10. Too bad SHY wasn’t around in Galileo’s time. He could have put the bottom of a bottle up against her ear, looked through the other and used her head for a telescope. He could have called his invention the SHYster.

  11. Joe to be fair Natasha took on the party leadership on the back of first Kernot then Lees selling out the party on workplace relations and taxation reform before both ultimately left the party. If Natasha had taken over earlier and not been undermined by Lees in particular they would probably still be a force today.
In fact, a lot of the talent left the democrats around the time that Lees was causing trouble and joined a little organisation called The Australian Greens. Perhaps you’ve heard of them.

  12. Cor if she’s disappointed I’ll willing let Percy put a smile on her dial.

  13. Boofa how could you? And after all we have been through! Its only a few more weeks before I go into battle with that terribly unattractive Janice Munt and you want to slip SHY some of your limited manly resouces? I simply can’t reward disloyality like this! BTW Boofy is it 9.15pm or 9.16pm tomorrow night?

  14. Andrew,

The silly boofa and wenchy stuff is both offensive and lacking in humour , unlike the RDR and Fatty Doyle contributions.

Either lift teh humour or throw them on the scrap heap.

All the references to ” Percy” is enough to make anyone puke!

  15. Er sorry Wenchy it’s just that I’ll need to update soon as you’ve got plenty of hard miles on your clock and you’re not as tight and sleek and slender as the younger models I’ve got me eye on. You’re a bit ‘clapped out’, but since I have not managed to throw my leg over the fresher model yet I’ll see you at Pompeis tomorrow night at 9.15.

  17. I thought this robot was a lib when I first met her.

Is this the best the new green brand can do?

    another faux leftwing fake….

  18. The Greens seem even more tax greedy than the ALP. A carbon tax, higher electricity charges, and the creeping, indexed excise taxes and charges will cause disaster to Victorian families.

The Brumby government has been useless. Bailleau would sell off any remaining public assets (if there are any left).

If any Green candidates appear out here in regional victoria, they will probably be lynched.

In November I will be voting for the Donkey.

  19. Anxious about our next electricity bill, my good wife has agreed to become a stripper at any suitable Blind Institute of Victoria functions.

I have heaps of wire so that I can plug into the grid outside my neighbours’s homes.

Governments that make electricity unaffordable will fall. Hundreds of times a day, in freezing winters and hellish hot days, their vile malfeasance will be remembered and cussed by a dehumanised electorate.

  20. I agree with VEXNEWS: Crass and repetitive!

I really didn’t want to use the name Percy but I thought the real name of ‘Tiny’ would do me inextricable psychological damage and ruin my reputation as a big load mouth buffoon with more hang ups than the National gallery.

    But thanks for your concern.

  21. But VEXNEWS: Crass and repetitive if you don’t like it don’t read it darling. If you understood politics a bit better you would glean from the humour. Perhaps you need to book into a lesson on the dark side of politics with Boofy? I am sure he can sit you down on his knee and give you a heads up :-)….Sorry there is that crass stuff again……

  27. These positions, including leadership and deputy leadership, are open for contesting after an election. Everybody knows this. What is your point?

  28. Get your rosaries off her ovaries!
This young woman’s failing is that her ambition is disproportionate to her abilities. Just like Colleen Hartland and Janet Rice.

Bob Brown is a great asset to the parliament though.

  29. SHY is fat and brainless

  30. Jo, I love your comment. This from a nobody no nothing who wouldn’t stand for a Miss/Mr Chicken McNugget competition.

Why don’t you run for office so we can all get a good look at you? Too scared? Don’t have the guts to put your views out there? Lack confidence, do we?

Gotta love a yellow bellied parrot.
