PATRIOTS PROTEST: Hawke’s hatchet-job on Right rivals riles conservative critics

hawkesnestmessedReports from multiple news sources have surfaced today about the Baulkham Hills Young Liberals branch meeting which occurred last night at the office of the member for Mitchell, Alex Hawke, described by critics aligned with David Clarke as a ‘born again libertarian’. The meet was chaired by Ben Potts from the Sydney Uni Liberal Club, attacked by critics as the “Invisible Man”.

Epithets and unfortunate nicknames are flying around like ‘brickbats’ in the office of Sylvia Hale, the Greens and millionaire socialist MP who stubbornly refuses to deny involvement in the murder of Sydney property developers.

Patriots friendly with David Clarke’s group tell VEXNEWS that the left-wing media reports on the meeting were gross distortions of the truth, with poorly founded tall tales of Hawke’s office being inundated with aggressive conservative gate-crashers.

They say Hawke and his one-time Right faction member colleagues (Fallow and Campbell) get a very good run in the lefty media like the ABC and SMH and are using it to wage war within the Right factions of the Liberal party in NSW.

Hawke – they insist – is running scared over a “tsunami of patriots” that is set to wash away the “sand castle of Hawke’s political achievements. He is about to be taught a political lesson and he doesn’t like it. Clarke is going to rub his nose in it.”

What the articles haven’t revealed is that the “gatecrashers” that Alex was protesting to the left-wing press about were merely Charlie Perrottet’s dear old mother and a couple of his innocent younger siblings who only wished to see their older brother raise some policy motions in defence of freedom. Instead what they ended up seeing was constant personal heckling at their brother and even witnessed him being shoulder-charged by one of Hawke’s goons (a fact that is strangely mixing from the reports Alex has leaked/sprayed to his lefty media comrades).

The truth of the matter is this, the conservatives explain: Alex didn’t want a repeat of last week’s meeting where Alex’s offsiders in The Hills branch led by Catholic turned libertarian Sara More were comfortably defeated by the conservatives as Chad Sidler and his allies outnumbered them three to one. Last night was looking like it would be yet another loss for the Pied Piper of Mitchell, something he couldn’t have, so he called the police and had it shut down. A political tactic used by undemocratic left-wing regimes around the world, some might think.

A patriot told VEXNEWS the incident showed the mendacity and aggression of Hawke and his young thrusters:

“Yet again it begs the question of the NSW liberal ambition faction how can they be committed to internal party democracy and peace when they are just so damn Hawkish?”

Others yet might question the use taxpayer funded facilities for private political knife-fights of this kind and argue that it’s not a good look for federal MP Alex Hawke to be engaging in such petty yet spectacularly ugly political squabbling. But if the “Taliban Right” conservative Liberals are so aggressively chasing Hawke, using a never-ending supply of recruits organised by a diligent David Clarke machine, then he might have no choice but to engage in a fight for his political life.

  3. Augustus wonders if Vexnews will credit him with coining the phrase “Pied Piper of Mitchell”?

Hawke’s tactics should come as no surprise. He has been employing such means for his entire political life.

One remembers his first foray into factional politics when he stacked out Parramatta Young Liberals (a good conservative branch) on behalf of The Group.

He has since honed his skills under the watchful tutelage of Nick “I have no numbers of my own” Campbell and Michael “I play both sides, literally and figuratively” Photios.

Hawke has always used thuggish brutes to do his dirty work and has always lacked the testicular fortitude to shape up himself.

Perhaps his time in the Army (cough) really did teach to be all he could be…a short, whiny, nasal little man with no friends, no life experience and no integrity.

    In verbum nostrum, veritas.

How will I make stupid speeches to scare conservatives? How will I find the young liberal minions to wave stupid signs around and letter box so I can take the credit? Who will appear in my youtube videos that nobody watches?

Look at me I’m a guy who had a nervous breakdown during a student union election (you know how stressful they are), got sacked by Pru Goward for being useless and lazy, went out with a girl for 6 months without getting any poontang, shit myself whenever one of my former class mate shouts at me and regularly gets chucked out of formal party functions for getting trashed and rowdy and look how well I’m doing – I’ll probably even be prez of the NSW YLs next year.

Just hope Sasha doesn’t have another cry because of how I don’t like her again (she had a cry about you too someone).

  17. This is a feud between the grassroots Liberals and Alex Hawke/Nick Campbell’s power clique of party officals/staffers known as The Ambition Faction.

Hawke’s boys know now they’ve bitten off more than they can chew and are fighting a battle they have no hope of ever winning.

It’s funny that they’ve accused the true conservatives of being facists when it seems that Hawke, Farlow and Campbell are acting like paranoid dictators intent on crushing dissent and marginalising their opposition.

First they try and block members joining out of area branches, then they introduced their policy to block members speaking out on internal issues, then came the infamous “Mugabe Clause” whereby the previous members of the state executive will now have special votes in voting for the next state executive.

Now in true fascist style they’ve crossed another ethical bridge and are resorting to violence to contain the resistance from the grassroots.

Well done Ambition Faction. Robert Mugabe would be proud.

  19. This incident would not have occured if the State Director was present at the meeting as intended. I want to know why Nick Campbell instructed the State Director not to attend. He really needs to tell the Party about his discussions with Alex prior to the meeting. What did Nick know and when did he know it? He was elected President for all the Party and not just the Soft Facists.

Nick has shown himself to be an incompetent leader. Look at his efforts in the federal election. It was a disasterous campaign in NSW and he is responsible for that. For the sake of the Party he needs to stand down for Michael Photios. If he stays, we are doomed at the state election.

    A: He calls the Cops.

  21. Photios should not run the party. The last thing we need right now is a lefty running the show.

I have no idea who should but lets get a great conservative type!

    Posted by Idiocy | October 2, 2009, 8:48
  22. A number of us are proud lefties including Photios. The benefit to the Right in having Photios as President is that he will lead for all member regardless of faction because it would it would be in his interest to. I’m getting tired of Nick Campbell playing with the rules to benefit his subfaction of the subfaction of the faction. We need a leader for everyone.

And I repeat, why did he tell the State Director not to attend Hawke’s YL meeting. He has his fingerprints all over this debacle.

    Posted by Ugghh | October 2, 2009, 9:07
  23. Of course a lefty is going to say Photios should run the show.

Photios would not be a leader for everyone, nor do I believe anyone would be.

We need someone that appeals to the masses and Photios does not do this.

    Posted by Idiocy | October 2, 2009, 9:11
  24. Okay, some in the Right might be opposed to Photios. But a number of us think he makes Campbell look like a monkey. Personally, I love the way he plays with Campbell.

But I think both Left and Right agree that Campbell cannot stay. He was incompetent in the federal election and he will lose us the state election. I have floated Photios as an alternative. Come up with someone better. The only point I make is that for all sides, Campbell cannot stay if we want to win.

    Posted by Ugghh | October 2, 2009, 9:24
  25. Ugghh – you are wrong, and completely out of line, to bring the State Director in to this matter.

On the night in question he was Chairing meetings of both the State and Federal Key Seats Committees in at the Secretariat.

So while all this nonsense was going on in the Hills, he was trying to ensure that our campaign preparations are on track for success.

Say what you like about others, but the State Director’s conduct since his appointment has been irreproachable.

  37. I feel a bit sorry for Alex but I can’t help but think back to a time when Alex pulled the same stunt on the Left at the Croatia Club in Punchbowl. Oddly enough he used the same tactic. They called a meeting to establish a new branch. Alex unexpectedly brought along a couple of hundred friends, but the Left had a hundred more. Alex’s mate Nick Campbell chaired the meeting and deliberately prolonged the roll call, hoping some of the left wingers would leave. tey didn’t, instead they called in more people. When Alex realized that he didn’t have the numbers so a couple of boys went out a shoved a few people around – suddenly the Police get called and the meeting has to be called off. I knew it would take some time, but I lived to see the day when Alex felt cold steel of being done over by the very people he helped make strong. They say revenge is a dish best served cold and I am enjoying the dish. I would be surprised if I didn’t get a second helping!

Alot of questions must be asked about why Mark Neeham did not ensure this meeting was conducted properly. Alan Jones was correct in his assessment of the reasons for this debacle. hawke desperately trying to frustrate the popular will of the party faithful
Nick Campbell also must take responsiubility for this damage being done. He is factional player himself, a role quite inappropriate for a State president charged with fostering unity.

  43. These YL clowns are skating on very thin ice. Their juevinile antics might entertain each other and a few backbench nobodies in the upper house with too much time on their hands, but as soon as they become a threat to a future Lib/Nats Government in NSW they’ll all be out the door before you can say, ‘She’s a mail order bride.’

As it stands, the YL issues are one of the only planks the Labor Party in NSW has to attack Barry O’Farrell with come the election, and one of the only ways to paint his MPs as the same old Fundy Right Wingers everyone loves to hate. There is no way the Parliamentary branch will tolerate that liability.

YLs make the mistake of assuming David Clarke and Marie Ficara are somehow all powerful, and can save them from the hatchet if they get in strife by using their ‘influence’ on the State Executive.

Barry O’Farrell picked up the phone and made Tim Andrews disappear from any list that mattered when he made him look bad over that Ayn-Rand-reading skanks blog. He can do the same to anyone who keeps bringing the increasingly good name of the NSW Libs into disrepute.

The YLs are an irrelevant embarrasment. The sooner they’re gone, the better.

Posted by The Good Hater | October 2, 2009, 13:55
  44. The Listening Devices Act refers to covert surveillance, which this was not. Further the line between a private conversation and a public meeting is a distinct one.

If anything the hard right individual recording parts with a camera phone is the one at fault.

    Posted by Anon | October 2, 2009, 14:15
  45. Yeah because I’m sure Alex Hawke wants this to go to court…

It makes me sick that people in the party sand up and say we’re right behind Barry O’Farrell wining the state election. If that’s the case stop pulling these dodgy stunts that waste the State Directors time.

The fact is Alex is going to loose preselection this time or the next. And if he doesn’t loose it this time he could very well loose the election because no body in his conference will campaign or work on his booths.

    – I got a blasting from Alan Jones for being one of the callow fat hacks at Alex’s office. Alan doesn’t want me preselected.

    – Sarsha had a cry when she found out Penny and I were an item.

    – My career has peaked. Obscurity here I come!

  81. I love how none of Hawke’s minions have been able to come on here and say that there is still some hope for the ambition faction.

Obviously you are loosing the numbers war. And now you are loosing the Media and Public relations war, with Alan Jones saying the Liberal Party should not preselect either Hawke or Farlow and other Journalists calling David Clarke’s supporters the Traditional or the John Howard right.

How the hell do you get out of this hole?

  82. The comments from Devine and Alan Jones are complete BS fed by Charlie Perrottet from David Clarke’s office.

The State Director will be investigating Charles Perrottet and his activities, including his flouting of the Liberal Party’s media policy by speaking to Alan Jones and his inciting of a crowd of people to push through the door into Alex’s office.

Poor old Charlie, what damage has he really done to his brother’s push to topple Michael Richardson in Castle Hill?

And I’m sure Mark Neeham is smart enough to realise that he can’t go on a witch hunt for those that speak out and not punish Alex now the media is watching.

Anyways mud is sticking to Andrew Jeffries, who wants Baulkham Hills and Scott Farlow, who wants Drummoyne. It ain’t sticking to Charlie’s brother or any other conservatives.

So again how do you get out of this hole?

  88. The sooner the current crop of Hills district Liberal MPs are gone from the Parliamentary Liberal Party the better. Jurassic Park beckons.

Noted long term non performers like Wayne Merton and Michael Richardson are unlikely to ever make a policy or electoral contribution or even be considered for any serious leadership role. Merton was quickly moved from a junior ministry; for all the rhetoric he failed completely. They both have the big brother “I’m a christian’ mentality that is the currency of pre-selection in the Liberal Party.

Why don’t the Hills and Baulkham Hill conferences get some leadership potential instead of these fence sitters and policy barren MPs.. O’Farrell deserves and needs better.

If Clark and Hawke joined them them would be few tears; they are neither leadership potential nor policy makers.

  89. Media Outlets sided with Clarke and Co. = The Australian (Imre and Van Onselen), 2GB (Jonesy) and Devine.

Media Outlets sided with Hawke and Co. = ABC and The Sydney Morning Herald (with the exception of Devine).

Just by looking at this data alone it’s quite clear which side represents the true Howard conservatives, that is Clark and Co.

People Sasha has had a cry about because they don’t like her – Failow (why on Earth she had a crush on this fat twat is anyone’s guess), Fontana and Justin Simon. She may have had a cry about some of the Melbourne libertarians too.

  91. Along with the Baulkham Hills and Castle Hill preselections, don’t forget the North West Upper House representative that Clarke and his odius lieutenant Charlie Perrottet are in a flap about.

Let’s face it, it’s quite easy to run off to Jones and Miranda Devine and spin a whole heap of steaming poo on your enemies, however, it’s another to actually show some credibility and do some real work for those within the community who you purport to represent.

Let’s take a look at the three hard right candidates that are up for selection.

Baulkham Hills – Damian Tudehope – 60 year old suburban lawyer to replace another 60 year old suburban lawyer, Wayne Merton. Talk about regeneration of the Liberal Party! Tudehope is so lazy, he couldn’t even stack a pancake.

Castle Hill – Dominic Perrottet – 25 year old who’s spent two years in law and one year working for Alex Hawke! Obviously, not a man of experience or credibility! Doesn’t even live in Castle Hill. Relying upon the Opus Dei network for his support base.

NW Upper House – David Clarke. What can one say about this mindless windbag? He has lost support within Sydney’s Lebanese Community when he got found out giving the same speech to both the Maronite Christians and the Muslims. Apparently both religions were “the true” Lebanese Australians. Whoops, Dave, got to be careful what you say and to pick your audience a little more carefully!

Clarke is now fighting for his political life. People need to remember the result at State Council a few weeks back regarding those preselection reforms. 99% of the vote backed the reforms, leaving Clarke supporters left complaining about naziism and comparisons with ethnic cleansing. Clarke will need to be praying to God because on this occasion, he doesn’t have the smarts of Campbell or Hawke to back him. Just the juvenile, dumbass tactics of Charles Perrottet, presuming that he is still a party member after Neeham’s investigation.

  93. “The comments from Alan Jones..are complete BS fed by Charles Perrottet..”

This comment reflects an abysmal understanding of Alan Jones and how this is likely to play out. Jones would not rely on one ‘partisan’ comment as the foundation for his public criticism of Hawke. He will have researched this and begun to gather documentation to support his comments. This will be the ‘political death of a thousand cuts’.
Similarly with a senior journalist like Devine. And if the Liberal party investigation comes to conclusions which are completely at variance with the evidence at hand, Jones will come out firing. Hawke and Campbell are not the only people with their credibility at stake.
Remember there are other journalists also directly involved, his daughter having been ‘monstered’ by Hawke’s men at the door.

  97. Hawke’s attack on the true Right is much akin to Hitler attacking Russia. Hitler made early gains however it was the Russians’ sheer numbers that overwhelmed the Nazis in the end, seeing the suicide of the ruthless tyrant Adolf Hitler. Clarke is Russia and has endless churches and ethnic communities to call upon to take the battle to Mitchell. Furthermore, they are relentless and will stop at nothing for revenge – Hawke may scrape in this preselection, but come post 2010 he will be out. The tragic thing is that Hawke could have just sat back and waited a few years and assumed factional leader of the Right when he was in his late 30’s and surrepticiously moulding the Right Faction to his own ideals. Instead, Hawke chose to court Malcolm Turnbull (who looks like losing Bradfield the way things are going) in order to get a Shadow Ministry. No one in their right mind would think Turnbull can win government (ever!) Hawke should sack his advisers (particularly that idiot Andrew Jeffries)for such a disasterous outcome. Just goes to show that streetsmarts does not translate into intelligence. All Mitchell needs is a quality, community-minded independent candidate!

  98. Interesting comments from Blind Freddie….You seem about as intelligent as the Mitchell observer.

Anyhow, it would be interesting to hear from Camp Clarke camp about their star candidate for Baulkham Hills, Damian Tudehope, the 60 year veteran who wants to replace the 60 year veteran Wayne Merton.

It’s widely known that this time will be Tudehope’s last crack. If he fails or if Barry wants Wayne to stay on, where will Camp Clarke go next? Will they opt for that lactose intolerant, propellor head Charlie Perrottet or the former Democratic Labor Party member and cross dressing champion of Redfield College, Tim Abrams?

If Baulkham Hills preselectors want change but can’t stomach the move to a Clarke old boy, perhaps the Hills Deputy Mayor, Mike Thomas may make a charge? He could be a good compromise under the circumstances.

As for Independent candidates, Mad Marie Ficarra could always ask her friend Sonya “one more drink for the road” Phillips to bottle up and provide some solutions for the good folk of Mitchell?

  100. Mike Thomas a “good compromise”? Are you serious?? The man would only get pre-selected by his mother! I think it’s gone beyond that stage for both sub-factions in the Hills area. The voters are weary of hardened, fringe religion candidates, whether they be Catholic Right-to-Life like Tudehope or fanatical Mormon like Mike Thomas. These people do not appeal the Liberal Party to the wider community. The Libs need someone who has demonstrated their intelligence, someone younger and a woman. It’s the only way these factions can put a good public image on their “undertakings” and show that they do have an intellect. I do not want the Libs to lose any seats, however if local resident Ray Hadley were to run in Mitchell as an independent then it would be an absolute wipe out for Hawke.

  101. What is the problem with being a Christian? I am hating this anti-Christian witchhunt stirred by Hawke and Campbell. It’s ok if you are, as long as you don’t act like one.

  102. I do not think that there is anything wrong with being Christian, nor Muslim, nor Jew or any other spiritual body of ethics. I think it is more the “extremity” and hypocracy of the Christian faith that people do not connect with. For example, the equating of love for one’s national flag as being anathematic to God on the basis that it is false idolatary is just nonsense, however this is an extreme view of the Westboro Baptist Church in the USA who picket the funerals of dead soldiers. Jesus condemned the practice of money lending, yet we have the Ambrosio Vatican Bank. Hill$ong likewise have sermons that the more money which is given, the more is returned. This, however, would be contrary to Jesus’ word that the “meek shall inherit the Earth”. Or what about the Cardinals refusing to look through Galileo’s telescope to see that the planets were spherical as opposed to being flat – which was heretical. These things are never addressed by the respective Christian denominations.

  103. Are you conservative Young Liberals idiots? This abysmal NSW Labor Government has been in power 15 years and are staring defeat in the face.

The only thing that will stop that happening is the public perception that the Liberal Party is dysfunctional and controlled by the religious right. This incident (rightly or wrongly) only reinforces that public perception and does much damage to O’Farrell. Whatever your disagreements with Hawke or anyone else, save your public protests and tantrum throwing until after the NSW election.
