SELF-AWARE: Bob Brown concedes he is normally economically irresponsible

strangeloveSuperannuation millionaire Greens leader Senator Bob Brown has achieved a level of self-awareness that may well have come from years of navel-gazing, bong-sucking and transcendental meditation. On the 7.30 Report this week he declared:

"Let me say this again: economists and business want the certainty of knowing where we’re going with carbon pricing policy. Tony Abbott is the wrecker. It’s a strange inversion where the Greens are being economically responsible and Tony Abbott, from the conservative side, is the irresponsible force for uncertainty into the future."

We can only take comfort that this Dr Strangelove style approach where like the General he has strapped himself to the compromised Greens carbon tax A-bomb. We doubt he’ll get out alive by the time he actually does a deal with the government, even if it brutally raises working families’ electricity, gas and fuel bills and prices more generally, it will just never be enough for his public servant/social worker inner-city supporters who think everyone else should live in the caves while they live like no-one else, paid for by the cave-slaves.

Be careful what you wish for, Dr Brown. If the sex industry’s political party continues to grow at current pace, it will be well on the way to halving Greens support by the next federal poll, certainly in Victoria. A compromised, deal-making, tawdry Greens party, self-admittedly economically irresponsible is going down exactly the same trail as the Australian Democrats. Go, you good thing.

  2. The Coalition has a policy of certainty – no carbon tax – pure and simple.

The Greens/ALP policy is inherently uncertain.

So not only is Bob admitting that the Greens are economically irresponsible he is also wrong to think that this gross recklessness of a carbon tax is somehow a manifestation of economic responsibility.

  3. So the 41% of Australians who have smoked marijuana must, by your logic, be Greens. Wow, that will give them more votes than the Liberal Party.

The sign of a losing argument is to go the personal attack. As a Certified Loser and Climate Change Denier, you cannot find substance to refute an ETS, so you think, ‘hey, I’ll be 12 years old and do poo poo in my pants and call a medical doctor a bong head ’cause his policies are silly billy’.

John Howard backed an ETS. John Howard is a Supperanuation millionaire. Ergo, John Howard is a bong-sucker.

This is the best comedy routine since Fawlty Towers. I laughed so much I p*ssed in Sotherby’s pants. LOL

  4. Obviously the Greens have a secret agenda to make us all live in caves in same type marriages and smoke whacy weed by candlelight while weaving baskets.

This is a threat to our way of life – our plasma TVs are sacred. Our 4 Wheel drives an icon. Our McMansions are pyramids. We must fight this threat to consumerism. Quick, to the malls and K-Marts. Man the registers. A shopping trolley to every man, women & child. Stock up on credit cards. Debt, debt, debt – we more debt.

Oil will never run out, but the sun sets every night. rember this wise message. Solar won’t help you watch your plasma in the evening.

Run for the hills, I see a greenie … ahhh, it’s got me …

  13. What makes carbon so bad that it deserves an excise tax of its own? It is being priced as if it is worse than alcohol and cigarettes. Then again, petrol has plenty of carbon in it and it has an excise. Will that be removed? Or just taxed four times instead of three? Excise, GST, franchise fee and carbon tax. Will cigarettes get their own carbon tax? I am all for a tax on flatulence as it will be paid mainly by Greens supporters who eat mung beans. What the heck is a mung bean anyway? Not sure if worldwide Greens supporters flatulate more than Amazon cattle but it has to be a close run thing. If you add in politicians who are believers that human factors such as energy production are the primary cause of global warming, I am sure the human flatulence tax will replace the need for any carbon tax and could probably replace the need for a GST as well.

  14. Why do all the anti-green and Bob Brown obsessed people always mention their love wands and palm pastries when they make comments?

Me thinks they secretly enjoy the company of fellow hot dogs and are envious of Bob’s intellect, acumen and status. What other reason could there be for boring failed men in dull jobs to spend their days fascinated by the pants of a politician .

    Freud, you’re needed urgently!!

  15. @wendy: amazing- we have seen it here first, Wendy acknowledges she has no argument or facts because she starts it off with a personal attack.

typical of all ultra extremist greens, you do not rely on facts or logic instead you rely heavily on personal vitriolic attacks that generally make no sense.

  16. Sotherby, here’s a fact or two. You don’t believe in climate change, you don’t believe in halting pollution, you don’t believe that solar and wind are better energy sources than coal and oil, you don’t believe anything uttered by any politician other than Tony Abbott and Cory Barnardi, you don’t believe the front of a woman is more enticing than the back, you don’t believe in education, you don’t believe in reducing consumerism, you don’t believe that mining companies are ripping us off, you don’t believe the floods, fires and cyclones are caused by changes to our climate and caused by warming sea levels, you don’t believe in anything but self interest, greed, avarice and your own bog ignorant world view.

Shall we golf soon? I just know I can beat you. I’m off 14, not bad for a hairy armed vegetarian. X

  17. Any new tax of this nature requires a mandate via a referendum or is unconstitutional – ULTRA VIRES. Unfortunately big-headed pollies who have the judiciary and the executive pussy-whipped will ignore this just like with the implementation of the GST.

  18. Sotherby, should we invite Wendy over saturday? I have the baby-barbeque all set, and a fresh batch of kittens for us to hit around the course.

I know, I know… but we wouldnt want to dispel Wendy’s belief that everyone who doesnt like The Greens are baby eating kitten killers. The psychological shock could be damaging; she might go postal, and that just wouldnt be fair to everyone else waiting in line at centerlink.

  19. I once identified with and voted for the ALP, that was when they truly represented the people they claim to represent “the Aussie battlers”. That was before they sold their soul to the Green loony brigade. Take it from a former supporter, the worker’s party needs to take a long hard look at itself very soon or it will be consigned to the political wilderness for a very, very long time.

    Posted by Anonymous | March 4, 2011, 18:58
  20. What time’s the BBQ Mick? You bring the kittens, I’ll bring a slab of Barry O’Farrell and spuds(no greens, we can’t have them). The Barry’s a bit fatty but once the greenhouse emitting coals get going, it’ll feed you, Sotherby and your loinfruit for weeks.

But one thing I don’t get – how come you all bag out Bob Brown for being a supperannuated millianaire, but then say all Genvironmentalists and climate change believers are on welfare? How’s that work? You can’t go the envy wealth line AND the dole bludger line at the same time.

So which is it? Are we all middle and upper class inner city soy drinking doctors wives, or hairy under-armed dole budgers?

Now back to your plasma TVs and dumbwitted brats obese wives and McMansions and credit card debt and middle management jobs – because isn’t that the stereotype of you semi educated Liberal bumpkins?

It must be sad being as big a loser as you and still not getting any special treatment from Bob and Christine. I mean you pretend to know better than everyone else, you’re an abusive fool, you have no taste, share a feeling of moral superiority with other narrow minded puritans, never let the abscence of scientific proof get in the way of being antimodern, hypocritically utilize carbon intensive technologies to try to pervert other younger more naive minds to your juvenile death cult philosophy and you’ve got time to post on blogs repeatedly, I mean you’ve done all the losers things. I’m suprised Bob and Christine haven’t asked you take on a special position in public relations. Why with supprters like you I’m sure you’ll be attracting alot of average (what did you call them) semi educated Liberal bumpkins that make up the 50% of Australians that actually do all the work and the thinking and make the decisions at election time.

  32. Wendy,
A REASONABLE person does not discredit an entire article for beginning with personal attacks on people. I’m not sure why it is you feel you are the only one that can read between the lines and understand when something is an attack filled with rhetoric and when something is a constructive point based on some premise. OF COURSE the ‘bong-sucking’ line (and alike) was a meaningless pot-shot – you know it, I know it, the Greens know it and the Liberals know it. How about YOU try making a constructive point instead of following the crowd and making similar nasty attacks. rise above it. otherwise it can only be assumed you are a pseudo-academic who makes sweeping statements and pigeon-holes people instead of having a rational discussion

  36. @Wendy: poor wendy, you think you play golf now, i doubt the tafe would let you out for a day wasted hacking up the greens. especially considering you extremists see golf clubs as yet more evidence of the evil capitalist systems hold on society. Go shove the driver up your twat and keep yourself busy so the big boys can discuss policy. and for the record im not a supporter of Messers Abbott and Bernardi, much like i detest Mr Brown. but then your not one for facts are you.

  39. True believers in greenhouse warming, who also can count, know that an Australian tax on carbon dioxide will have NO effect on the average temperature of the earth.
Australia produces less than 2 percent of GHG. If Australia reduced carbon dioxide emissions to absolutely zero, it would not affect the word’s temperature. We are simply not that important.
Now add to that the fact the Greg Combet has said that coal mining will not be affected, and you know that this carbon tax has nothing to do with the environment. It’s just a revenue grab.

    Posted by Redmond | March 6, 2011, 21:39

Having said that I opposed it then and now!

If Australia can lead free trade, we can lead carbon reduction. You don’t seriously think we should wait for India or China to take the lead do you?

I can beat you at golf, I can beat you at public policy debates, I can beat you intellectually, I can beat you at spelling, I can beat you with my riding crop.

Go ahead, make a rude response, it doesn’t detract from the scene confronting your mirror each day – middle man, middle job, middle wife, moronic loinfruit if your seed makes it that far.

  45. your personal attacks on further erode your credibility and probably make you feel a whole lot better don’t they. It’s about time for you to complain about social inequity and label everyone sexist for not agreeing with your vile rants.

I doubt you can form any opinions of public policy independent of a Greens press release, you have displayed nothing but a complete lack of informed and developed ideas, but it makes you feel better so I doubt you will change any time soon.

Unlike you I don’t stay awake at night waiting for another poster here to attack, you seem to as your regular comments illustrate what must be a sad existence for you.
