SLEEPING WITH THE ENEMY: First it was Buswell & Carles, now WA Greensparty shows Liberals How-To-Vote lerv

Despite pretending to be a party of principle, the Greensparty in WA have been caught out in what their supporters and Labor critics see as a sleazy preference swap with their supposed conservative adversaries. How many Greensparty voters will actually follow a How-To-Vote card that preferences Liberal will be interesting to watch but in any event, it is all enough to remind us of one of VEXNEWS biggest yarns when we exposed the indecent liaison between then Greensparty MP Adele Carles and heavy-hitting Liberal, then WA Treasurer Troy Buswell. Good times…

Greensparty HTV’s in today’s WA election show they have preferenced the ruling Liberal party government ahead of Labor in at least two seats, as part of a sneaky deal with their supposed conservative enemies to help defeat Labor in Fremantle, the seat currently held by boned ex-Greensparty MP Adele Carles, who was sensationally revealed by VEXNEWS in 2010 as having a fling with then WA Treasurer, Liberal Troy Buswell.

The colourful Liberal whose first brush with fame involved claims he would achieve sexual gratification by chair-sniffing the office-seats of ladies in his employ was later forced to resign over the Adele Carles indecent liaison and suggestions he’d inappropriately used taxpayer-funded accommodation and resources to facilitate the fling. He was not convicted of any offence and later returned to the ministry, where he is considered one of few with a clue.

The odd couple later got serious, dumped their respective spouses, moved in together, had a tumultuous break-up (of course), with Carles later accusing Buswell of drunken impropriety and Buswell suing Carles in defamation, in unresolved litigation.

Well-regarded WA electoral analyst William Bowe says this is the first time the Greensparty have been game to directly preference Liberal candidates for nearly twenty years, with the Queensland Greensparty giving the Tories some love back in 1995.

The curious arrangement, not given much attention at all in the Wild West media, has been criticised by Labor insiders as revealing far more about the Greensparty’s character than the content of their spin, where they claim to be a party of high principle. The reality is that they believe like what they evolved from: a cynical bunch of mostly elite private-school educated ultra-left student politicians who are happy to do whatever sleazy deals they have to win while still pontificating about they are the only people true to their values. Poppycock.

This video uploaded by the unfortunately named Giz Watson, the Greensparty leader who presided over the strange situation where their only lower house MP was having an affair with the Liberal government’s Treasurer and most prominent minister shows their typical positioning. That situation and the preference swap with the Liberals doesn’t sit well with the claims made on this video. The Greensparty – as Kevin Rudd pointed out in what for Labor was a welcome moment of causing trouble for Labor’s foes – is very vulnerable to attack on its claim to ideologically pure and driven only by tree-hugging not power-grabbing. That is – in this incident and countless other incidents we’ve shown over the years in this news outlet of freedom – simply not true. They are politicians. They crave power. They enjoy – like Adam Bandt – every last perk and privilege from the joint, too. It’s not just their snout in the Chairmans Lounge trough, they’ve got both front trotters in too, suckin’ up as much slop as they can.

The Greensparty were desperate to receive Liberal party preferences in Fremantle so they have some show of keeping the seat from Labor after the Adele Carles horror story continued to hurt them reputationally in the traditionally Labor but gentrifying area.

They have also managed to get Liberal preference loving in the upper house, where they are above Labor in every seat but one.

The result itself suggests a very strong showing for the Liberal and National Party government, with a swing to it indicated in published and unpublished polls.  Federal factors loom large, with the only encouraging signs for Labor being what happens after the election: Colin Barnett’s possible mid-term retirement, the possible elevation of the colourful Buswell given the departure of one of few credible leadership contenders in Christian Porter to Canberra and an expected Abbott win in September, depriving the state conservatives the chance to Canberra-bash, a term soon to be adopted in dictionaries, a popular Perth pastime.

  2. Nothing wrong with Nerilee than a little job as my researcher couldn’t put right. Leave her alone, she’s not a crook like that Prime Minister of yours.

The Liberals and Greens should be able to combine to smash Labor, they share that interest in common and your attempt to present it as an immorality is just designed to help your corrupt Labor mates in WA like Brian Burke.

The Greens will replace Labor, which will make it a bit easier for Liberals to win but that’s not a bad thing the way things have been under Labor governments, unless you were an insider who got a coal mine and a sweetheart deal, you got nothing except the contempt of Labor careerists like Reba Meagher and Joe Tripod.

Don’t blame the Greens for the moral corruption of Labor, it’s not their fault. And if they try to get the best deals to get the best results, why should that surprise anyone.

    You’re full of it.

  3. Good article. The Greens are political filth. As you correctly pointed out, they are a group of inner city arseholes who try to paint themselves as the good and decent alternative to the major parties. What crap!
They are the vermon of politics, and Labor, Liberal and Nationals should preference them last … always!!!
    Make them history guys!

  7. In other news, Greens preference ALP over Libs in at least 57 out of the 59 seats, leaving two where only the Libs have a hope of beating two nasty Nats. See if you can guess which two.

  12. The MSM will use a probable LNP WA win as another hammer over the head of Federal Labor. No news there. What really irks me is to hear Graham Richardson (on behalf of Murdoch on Foxtel Agenda programme) claiming that Julia Gillard is spending $1billion per day. He offered no context whatsoever and it comes after a long line of similar self aggrandizements. Where is this man’s sense of loyalty to a party which treated him well over so long a period? He is a disgrace.

  13. The WA Greens are the second least crazy after the Tasmanian Greens. The really bad Greens are in NSW, Vic, Qld and SA (probably in that order in terms of marxist influences and stalinist tendencies).

They have no chance in Fremantle (at least I hope they have no chance).

The Liberal vote overall is so strong that their preferences in the Legislative Council may not be used as they will be sitting with enough of a quota to stay in for the last distribution.

  15. Looks like greens are going to lose their four upper house seats in the WA election. Looks like the greens are dead, buried and cremated.

  16. The Good news: Greens vote collapses in Western Australia. ABC Election Analyst claims that based on lower house votes the Greens will lose representation in he WA upper-house

The ALP need to seriously review its policy of supporting Green madness.

Next Tuesday the Greens Rohan Leppert plan to move a motion calling on the Victorian IBAC to review Police actions in restoring public order in the City Square.

Melbourne Lord Mayor decsion to ask the police to act was supported by the wide community.

It is incumbent on ALP members Richard Foster and Jackie Watts to reject the proposal put forward by Rohan Leppert or run the risk of undermining Labor’s electoral support in Melbourne by embracing the Greens motion. Their credibility and that of Cr Mayne who is beholden to the greens for their support is on the line.

  18. WA ALP what a rabble.

When a left womyn becomes a party leader see what happen – nothing and eventual decline or demise.

Gillard (useless and gone in Sep), Kernot (Dems demise and defection to ALP and gone), Milne (Greens demise and going), Kirner (rust belt state wrecker and gone), Kenneally (NSW ALP “girl” and gone), Bligh (floods Brisbane and gone), Martin (it was all so hard for the former ABC journalist and gone), Lawrence (the Penny Eastern controversy and gone).

    All failures as leaders.

  22. Adrian Jackson | March 11, 2013, 21:21 Can we have a complete list of ‘The Terrigals’ and all the scumbag lowlife union officials associated with them. It’s about time all the NSW Right crooks were named and shamed. It’s fine for them all to come out now and say ‘oh but I was good, I didn’t have anything to do with them really.’ I want to know every union, every union official, every councillor, these crooks have got to be cleaned out of every nook and cranny up and down the country. Every person in Australia should know how and why these odious creatures were able to enrich themselves in this way.
