SLUR: Greens party councillor’s racial attack could see him sacked

greensracist A Greens party member local government councillor in Melbourne’s east has been accused of racism after telling a council colleague that he ought not vote on a Chinese aged care facility proposal purely because his wife is Asian.

Councillor David Ellis – a serial Greens party endorsed candidate – is accused of bizarrely suggesting to his colleague Ivan Reid that he should not vote on a proposal relating to the proposed expansion of the On Luck nursing home into a “green wedge” area because Reid is married to a woman of Korean descent. Senior citizens of Chinese descent live in the popular aged care facility.

A bizarre aspect that is that it’s not even a council decision, the state Planning Minister gets the final say, so they were just arguing about the council’s position on the issue in principle.

Sources have told VEXNEWS that the maverick councillor could be dismissed by the Minister for Local Government over acting improperly as a councillor. It is understood that Members of Parliament will be making representations to the Minister demanding the termination of the accused racist councillor. An investigation by the Office of Local Government is seen as likely given the seriousness of the accusations.

Ellis is known to be furious that the Chinese community aged care facility On Luck exists at all and has privately told residents it should be “bulldozed” because it was not approved by the local community or council in the first place. The Greens party extremist has loudly opposed the On Luck facility and is also known as a very loud opponent of immigration generally. His party leader Bob Brown has also attacked immigration recently.

A known enviro-extremist, Ellis has also publicly attacked home-owners who wanted to clear dangerous trees away from their houses when they were at risk from bushfires.

Ellis’s council critics have politely said “there is a hidden cultural agenda”. We’re not as polite: David Ellis clearly has a problem hiding his “toxic” prejudice. His public defence included the bizarre claim that his wife had married a “Korean.” Ellis is not Korean.

The Sunday Herald Sun has shamed Ellis over the scandal by revealing his attack on Councillor Reid and his family.

Reid is married to a Korean-Australian woman Happy Kim.

That seems to have troubled Ellis sufficiently for him to demand that Reid “butt out of Asian issues that arise on the council.”

Councillor Reid was horrified by Ellis attempting to muscle him by attempting to falsely claim that someone married to an Asian woman was somehow disqualified from voting on a Chinese nursing home:

Cr Reid, who has Scottish and Chinese heritage, said Cr Ellis made the statement at a meeting between the pair and Cr Pick about seven weeks ago.

“He started saying that because my wife is a Korean I should declare a conflict of interest in any Asian matters and not get involved in any Asian matters,” he said. “I was shocked. I think there might be an ethnic angle he’s got and I think people can draw their own conclusions.”

The mayor of Manningham Charles Pick witnessed the racial attack but didn’t want to buy into the highly emotive issue:

Cr Pick said: “I can’t deny that it happened, but we’re committed to moving forward.

“I’d say it was a regrettable moment and all councillors should stay away from personal matters.”

  1. This article raises a few questions.
1: Does David Ellis deliberately dress to resemble a leprechaun?
2: Is he related to Bob Ellis? Or did Bob ask him to change his name so he’d become the ‘relatively reasonable’ Ellis by comparison?
    3: Happy Kim?

  3. @we get what we deserve: why will it disappear? Because that would be convenient for the racist extremist minority? This Ellis sounds totally kooky and racist and good Australians must never sweep racism under the carpet!

I listened to the audio linked from the Sun Herald, the debate starts at 16m40s (www.tinyurl.com/racistEllis). The way Ellis and La Vella carry on is hillarious (Grace La Vella lives up to her airhead reputation by raising a point of order before even knowing what she is objecting about and Ellis at one point claims his wife is Korean to try and ease the heat!).

The Green Party has some good environmental issues it champions, but in David Ellis they clearly have a racist and a party liability! Thank goodness for the rest of us though as it will continue to keep those kooky greens down, hah ha!

  4. The toothless fairy Dick wynne doesnt have the ability to sack a Clouncillor even if the Local Govt body hands down a decision to do so. Check the Legislation and you will see the Minister is hamstrung. How he was able to sack the Brimbank Council might be spelt out in Court. If they were guilty what about spivy George Seitz?

  6. I am constantly amazed by green bizarreness. I know I shouldn’t but just when you think they have reached the peak of weirdness, they manage to outdo themselves.

Regardless, if the construction of the retirement village occured without proper planning permission then it should be treated like any other building… demolition or massive fines. If it’s just a piqued council burned by VCAT then bad luck to the council.

  12. Ollie there is always ‘room in the inn’ and my ‘inner sanctum’ for you, especially in South Australia. We are such a gay state following the tippy toes of Don Dunston.

  14. Reid is labor, this is a feud between the greens and labor in an election year, and the greens will still preference labor in the state election…go figure?

  15. It just shows you how far this politically correct stuff has gone. Any expression of cutting migration is met with a wall of racist labelling by feel good lefties. Our longest serving Prime Minister had strong views on migration and he was well respected by all.
