THE CHILLING TRUTH: Ralph Blewitt raped his sister

Ralphblewittrapedhissister630The Prime Minister’s principal accuser in an ancient saga relating to the admitted misuse of monies from an inappropriately titled union re-election fund by its principals has been denounced by his sister on Seven News for engaging in behaviour so shocking they were not willing to broadcast it.

We were made aware of it during the week when we became aware of another story about Ralph Blewitt but were restrained from publishing the filthy details.

Now his sister has spoken up with Mark Riley on the Seven Network, we have been released from this constraint and can report the sordid and disturbing truth claimed by his victim:

Ralph Blewitt raped his sister.

Penelope Lennon has bravely spoken out about the trauma because she was so disgusted, outraged and horrified about her evil brother being considered a font of truth by one side of politics and some in the media.

Blewitt has returned to Malaysia rather than face these new and chilling claims.

As Seven reported tonight:

FIRST ON 7NEWS: Pennelope Lennon is the sister of Ralph Blewitt, the self-confessed fraudster at the centre of the AWU slush fund affair, but she wishes she wasn’t.

She has spoken exclusively to 7News, warning of dark secrets in the past, and says she wants the public to know the truth.

PENNELOPE LENNON: I hate Ralph Blewitt and if the people out there know what he’s done they wouldn’t be backing him.

MARK RILEY: You’ve spoken to the police about these matters?

LENNON: I have.

RILEY: We can’t broadcast the allegations, but Mrs Lennon cautions politicians against trusting her brother.

LENNON: I don’t hold political favours or favourites to either side. This man is out to destroy lives. I know he’s already bloody destroyed mine.

RILEY: Pennelope says she’s got nothing to gain by going public, but felt compelled to after seeing her brother on television.

LENNON: He’s an imbecile, he’s an idiot, and he’s a scumbag!

RILEY: This is your brother you’re talking about?

LENNON: I hate him.

RILEY: Hate is a really strong word.

LENNON: I’m 60-years-old and I’m still suffering because of what he did to me. I was a young girl.

I was made to be in that photo. I think you can see from the look on my face I didn’t want to be near him.”

RILEY: You’re not doing this for money, you’re not doing it for exposure, so why are you doing it?

LENNON: Because he couldn’t be punished for what he did to me when I was younger.]

He needs to be punished for what he’s doing now, for what he did to the AWU, for what he did with all those worker’s money that they paid him, the companies that he defrauded.

That would give me satisfaction in my life, if he were now to be charged with fraud, and some sort of imprisonment, and that’s all I want out of this.

RILEY: Ralph Blewitt has flown back to Malaysia. The man who financed his trip to Canberra, researcher Harry Nowicki, said today that Ms Lennon was just ‘attacking his mate’s character’.

He pointed out that Mrs Lennon hasn’t spoken to her brother since their father died 19 years ago.

Pennelope Lennon says there’s a good reason for that, and now hopes other family members will come forward with their stories.

LENNON: He’s openly admitted to fraud. Now come on Ralph, openly admit to what you did to your sister all those years ago.

He probably won’t admit anything and it’s notoriously difficult to get cases like this into the courts but it seems Ms Lennon wanted her account to be known and we are happy to publish what Seven felt they couldn’t.

This story did the rounds for most of this week in the Canberra Press Gallery and was – in addition to the story VEXNEWS was able to publish about Blewitt’s alleged sexual interest in his then teenage step-daughter – known to several people in the long-since deposed leftist faction within the AWU from which Blewitt and his colleague Bruce Wilson emerged. Wilson has apparently been making no secret of this particular issue and when asked about it Blewitt’s sister wasn’t denying it either. Now the brave woman has taken her stand and those relying on her rapist’s word are looking all the more unwise.

The Australian’s Ean Higgins contracted Ralph Blewitt about the allegations and found the fellow now much less enthusiastic about discussing matters with journalists:

When contacted last night about his sister’s allegations, Mr Blewitt said “no comment” before the line went dead.

  2. The sad thing is the country’s most respected and insightful newspaper (The Australian) published articles implying the PM was possibly involved in criminality based on this scumbag’s decision to return to the country to clear his conscience. A disgrace to Australian journalism and Australian politics.

  4. This lady had my complete sympathy. I hope the press leave her alone and do not traumatise her any more than she has already suffered.

Also the story about the sister’s child should be dropped. I take it that person has not consented to be part of this and may be very reluctant to have that so widely known, even of the mother has discussed it.

  8. Gillard’s own words, within the House and without, prove that she helped set up the fraudulent association; but, though Julia Gillard was Blewitt’s friend for four years, and she helped him and Wilson, her leman, commit fraud, evidence that Blewitt was a bad man somehow absolves Gillard of wrongdoing? Why?

  9. If the Australian is the countries’ most insightful newspaper then that says an awful lot about the lot of us.

  10. If true, one wonders why Blewett didn’t get a parliamentary seat . This authentic voice of the Australian working class appears to be an ideal ALP candidate, especially when one looks at the list of ex ‘Members’ currently banged up.

  11. What impeccable timing! Blewitt was a crook, maybe a rapist, but it DOES NOT nor should not absolve Gillard’s involvement in the AWU case. Channel 7 is not known for its lack of left leaning view, so for the report to come out now we have to be rather sheepish to believe. My 2 cents…

  12. I read on Wikipedia that the person who runs this site (see the About link above) “has been active in the past in the Labor Party, and particularly the Labor Right faction”. No wonder this site has a pro-Gillard agenda. Remember, Blewitt was a friend of Julia Gillard’s.

  13. And this is who Gillard knocked around with when she worked for S&G. What a lowlife she really is.

  14. My god! The Liberal supporters here who are excusing Sibling Rape, just to be able to continuing to attack Julia Gillard! I know where the lowlifes reside. It’s in the party and it’s supporters who associate with such a person now.

  15. Lots of messenger shooting going on here by anti Gillard types.

Vanhao. There is no mystery about why his sister would come forward now. Blewett is in the news so his vile history becomes news. And if you think any of the OM are left leaning you are seriously deluded. Perhaps you can tell us. What exactly is Gillard supposed to have done that warrants such attention? Go on. The whole country will be grateful to you.

Tom. So what? Guilt by association? Of course that’s what this is all about. There is no wrongdoing by Gillard. The Liberals just want to talk about her poor choice in boyfriends. Sir Robert would be proud.

Deadman. Nice. I see what you’ve done there. “She helped set up the fraudulent association”. You really have gotten into the spirit of things, haven’t you. Did she know it was going to be used for fraud? No. Let me explain by analogy. My brother once did some welding for a company that much later was found to be trading while insolvent. Did he do anything wrong? By your logic he did.

Olivia. Against some stiff competition the prize for the most stupid comment goes to you. The reason it matters is because the Libs have put Blewett forward as a credible witness. If he raped his sister it tells us some important things about him. Ie that he is probably a lying piece of psychopathic filth.

Liam. No one respects The Australian. Tony Windsor said it best when asked if he gets it. He said no, that in their house they use Sorbent.

I hope that helps everyone. Good luck with the logic guys.

    Posted by PB | December 1, 2012, 8:20
  16. The stench from this clings to Gillard. The Libs are right. Is this the sort of person we want as PM ? Her character is the issue. When she walks in to the parliament it stinks. She brings lowlifes like Blewitt with her.

    Posted by heinrich | December 1, 2012, 8:29
  17. If anybody has any evidence that Julia Gillard did anything wrong they should go to the police. If Tony Abbott or Julie Bishop have evidence they should put it into the hands of the police. If they don’t they are complicit. The truth is they have no evidence. It’s all just smear and innuendo just as it is with some posts on this blog.

  20. For those trying hard to bad mouth Ms Gillards again by association her with Blewitt. Well, we ( include Ms Gillard I’m sure) have learnt a LOT more about Blewitt in the past few months than when Ms Gillard was near him. Nice try.

  21. Quick, Rally all our ALP cronies, we’ve got a problem on our hands.

I’d expect a major defamation lawsuit coming Vexnews’s way any week now.

Three articles accusing him of different things with absolutely no substance expect the words of a bitter sister who has gone around blogs with some nasty comments trying to defame her brother.

So she’s been quiet all these years only coming out over this saga? Surely that’s not a co-incidence.

    Posted by Anon | December 1, 2012, 9:46
  22. So the Australian and Mark Baker would not canvas the Wilson, Lennon information on the star witness Blewitt because it might damage their effort of destroying the PM.
Did Blewitt leave Australia on legal advice or was he sent away by journalists because they knew Riley was after him?

  25. If Wilson was talking about this, did the ABC, 7.30 leave it out of their exclusive interview with Wilson?

Was it part of the interview, was it edited out? If we give them the benefit of the doubt, could not Walkley winner Leigh Sales have said “explosive new allegations have emerged about Blewitt, unrelated to the AWU but goes to his character. We are unable to air these allegations at this time”

    Posted by sue | December 1, 2012, 10:25
  26. Heinrich. I agree completely when you say “IS this really the person we want as PM?” There is no way Blewitt should ever be allowed to govern this country,

Posted by Loosley Held Views | December 1, 2012, 10:34
  28. Now when Julie Bishop was confronted about lying to the media on how many times she had met Blewitt, one reporter asked her “how would you judge his character?”
No wonder she said “he is an admitted fraudster” then hurried away. And no wonder she was unavailable to the press ever since.

    Posted by sue | December 1, 2012, 10:58
  29. PB, I stand by my assertion that Julia Gillard established a fraudulent association and thereby helped Wilson and Blewitt commit fraud. You used a logical fallacy (an argument by weak analogy) to suggest incorrectly that I used a logical fallacy.
Nonetheless, the evidence tends to demonstrate that Gillard knew, or should have known, the incorporated association was formed in order to assist fraud, and she clearly knew that it was not a legitimate association for the provision of workplace reform; the fraud might even have been planned by her. A trial, I suspect, will tell.

  30. Penelope Lennon has obviously suffered for many years, and so have many others. Let us hope that the Abuse enquiry will find all of those who have caused so much suffering to all victims of abuse. It beggars belief that the Coalition are so desperate to bring down the PM that they would rely on Ralph Blewitt as their star witness. Mr Abbott brings a questionable meaning to his claim that he is a devote Christian.

You never broke stride, or paused in the mudslinging to consider this woman’s trauma except to use it as further political sleaze against the Prime Minister.

In fact many of you made jokes about child-rape by a sibling.

    That is utterly disgusting.

It says it all about your character, and the character of the modern right-wing movement.

You are nothing but a mob pf sociopaths who deserve your sociopathic leader.

  34. Quite right, PuffyTMD, I too am disgusted that too few commentators ever take the opportunity to praise the benevolent leadership of the Hon. Juulia Gillard, or have the grace to observe her exemplary empathy for all the afflicted of the world. Furthermore, anyone who doesn’t specifically express a hatred of violence and bigotry and general badness in a comment here must be assumed to be a thoroughly wicked, right-wing supporter of violence and bigotry and general badness.
Clearly, commentators here are a churlish mob of sociopathic ingrates who, at the very least, need to be sent to reeducation camps.

  35. You know, I don’t know why we bother with trials in this country. Accusations of rape should be more than enough to send an alleged rapist to gaol for the rest of his days, surely; after all, women don’t lie.
As for allegations of fraud, if the PM says that she’s innocent, that obviously exculpates her; after all, women don’t lie.

    Posted by Deadman | December 1, 2012, 12:57
  36. Futureproof and ohers,

Whatever the imprisonment rates, it is no reflection on the rate of child sexual abuse. This happens across cultural, class and political lines. It happens behind the doors of million dollar homes in the leafy exclusive streets just as much as the semi-detacheds of Workersville.

The difference in rates of convictions is more likely to relate to the class and economic resources of the perpetrators. The merchant, professional and ruling classes have more incentive and resources to cover up these crimes, and can more effectively ‘circle the wagons’ against any investigations.

The churches prove this. Power and money covers up many crimes.

If their are greater prison rates for this crime amongst the working class or a particular political movement I think it is related to the greater numbers of people in the working class, and that ‘left-wingers’ are more likely than ‘right-wingers’ to be willing to believe victims and report, prosecute and give evidence against perpetrators.

The comments to this article by right-wingers support my last point.

This is not about RALPH BLEWITT, THIS IS ABOUT JULIA GILLARD for those non-lawyers this woman was obligated to act in the best interests of her clients but it is not ok to ADVICE THEM TO BREAK THE LAW. IT IS NOT OK TO DEFRAUD A GOVERNMENT AUTHOIRTY. As a solicitor she is not entitled to be a mere mouthpiece for her client. THAT IS A LEGAL DOCTRINE THAT SHE HAS NOT ANSWERED QUESTIONS ABOUT.

SO lets get over the crap about Blewitt etc. This is about whether this woman has lied, whether she breached her professional obligations, whether she should be impeached for lying to parliament….. and whether the reality is that she is not a fit or proper person to be a member of parliament….

Please give the quote from Hansard to back up your statement.

I wonder what the time limits are for defamation?

If Julia Gillard does not win the next election, and so has a bit of time on her hands, she may wish to use some of her skills in teaching some people exactly what the laws of defamation mean.

Why do you think the LOTO and Co were so careful about the wording of their public statements? Abbott does not want to lose the house he doesn’t own.

But the story right now is whether JUlia Gillard misled the comissioner, and by the way Julia Gillard is behaving and not answering the questions and her speech recently is most DISGUSTING and simply RUDE, YES Gillard is rude, How dare she speak in such “gangster tone” in the parliament. the parliament is not the mafias den or is it! and again VEX news please watch what you print. 82. Maria Rumins 1/12/2012:
Someone has already made a report to Victorian Police regarding something they allege Julia Gillard has done wrong. The Victorian Police are currently investigating and have been speaking to persons of interest.
The claim alleged by Blewitt’s sister, while abhorrent if true, is no defense to any allegation of wrongdoing by Gillard. It may be of use for media and pro-Gillard purposes but is a completely separate issue to the AWU scandal.
I am waiting for Gillard to come out and discredit the character of Wilson, the other partner in the AWU scandal. Her noticeable absence of criticism towards Wilson (she does not mention him at all in relation to this scandal) is remarkable considering according to her he deceived her. Why out of Blewitt, Wilson and Gillard is Blewitt the only one to make a Statement to police? Why are Wilson and Gillard both accusing Blewitt yet failing to back up their accusations with a Statement to Police? Gillard is even refusing to back a call for a judicial enquiry in to the scandal. Are these the actions of someone who did nothing wrong, has nothing to hide and purports to stand for the rights of the working man or woman? I say to Gillard – Prove you did nothing wrong – Prove you have nothing to hide. Support your cries of innocence with documentary evidence and shut down once and for all the voices of your critics. Until then I can only rely on the volume of documentary evidence currently in the public arena. Documents do not lie – People do.

  83. Dan Gulberry:
Blewitt does not have immunity from prosecution. He only has an agreement that his evidence will not be used to prosecute him. Should Police discover further evidence that incriminates him, Blewitt faces the prospect of being charged.
You should steer clear of sourcing facts from MSM. They never seem to be completely accurate in their reporting. I stopped relying on MSM for REAL news long ago. For infotainment they are okay but investigative and accurate reporting is no longer their forte.

  84. There are plenty of documents to prove or disprove a case, (that is if they haven’t gone missing) sworn affidavits with matching diary notes.
Blewitt’s character is not the issue although the PM would like it to be and is using it to cover her ….

Here is a question, Why did the AWU, which would have been a huge customer for Slater and Gordon, take their business to Maurice Blackburn at the time Gillard left or was asked to leave ?

There are two vastly different issues here. One is Rape the other is fraud. The problem here though is which one is harder to prove. At least with fraud there are records.Stop trying to protect this woman she is a crook and everyone can now see by how much. And her boyfriend still owes shit loads in Shepparton for failed business dealings. Birds of a feather stick together they say.

    Posted by arnie potter | December 3, 2012, 8:03
  87. Clearly Blewitt not a reliable witness. His credibility is less than questionable. It is non existent. Blewits actions are just as reprehensible, if not more so then the actions of Catholic Priests that sexually abused children under their pastoral care.

This also reflects poorly on the judgement of Tony Abbott and the Liberal Party Opposition Front Bench. They wollow in the mud and then accuse others off being tainted…

Gillard did nothing wrong, she acted professionally and played no role in the administration and operation of this election slush fund. He role was to draft up incorporation documentation. Nothing different then the countless other acts of lawyers who set up companies or trust funds that are later used to shift funds and deny workers and investors their rights.

If Gillard is guilty of an offense then we should be looking deeper into the roles played by others in the Parliament who provided assistance and legal support to big businesses who managed various legal entities to avoid liability.

The media should be asking the Law Institute to investigate its membership to see if they have complied with their code of conduct. The fact that they have not says a lot about the veracity and motive of these allegations.

How many business or trusts has Murdock created to shift financial or legal liability.

Neverthelss, this story has little to do with the awu scandal and gillard’s actions in the mid 1990s. She acted in poor fashion at that time and ought ot hav eknown better being a partner of a law firm. What about her “ethics” as a lawyer? And she was in a loving relationship with wilson so a bit hard to belive there was no pillow talk? As for riley, well not much weight there eh “shit happens” shonk!

Julia Gillard is just as bad as Wilson and Blewitt. They were scamming Thiess, AWU members and the Aussie taxpayer… and doing quite well from it until it all came unstuck.

    Posted by J.H. | December 4, 2012, 15:13
  98. Don’t forget that Julia Gillard is facing questions that have nothing to do with Ralph Blewitt’s testimony or character… What Blewitt did or didn’t do to his sister has nothing to do with Julia Gillard’s problems.

Gillard was friends with Blewitt and Wilson. She set up an incorporated association fund that was misleadingly named and vouched for that Association and misled the WA Commissioner in doing so. Very serious offences.

She incorporated this association in breach of many regulations, requirements and guidlines of both the AWU and the Law… etc.

Julia Gillard seems to make a habit of involving herself with men of bad character… Blewitt, Wilson, Telikostoglou (aka Bill the Greek).

Yet many on this blog are utterly incurious. Even when Documents show that Julia Gillard has some very serious questions to answer…. Because on the face of it, they show that she has committed serious breaches and offences.

Happy to look at the facts but it is hard to see them given all of the confected outrage flung at the matter.

Also you state matters as though they are true but how do you know? For example, when you say that JG misled the WA Commissioner please specify what she did that was misleading, why it was misleading at the time and how she knew it was misleading.

See my problem with the AWU affair is that assertions are made but without the evidence to back them up. It reminds me of how Lefties used to decry John Howard as having lied about the children overboard affair and castigated anyone who didn’t join their circle jerk of hate. Sadly history is repeating itself with a different set of partisans claiming their own reality and deriding anyone who doesn’t join in.

Who knew the fund was going to be a slush fund, but still set it up. Julia was so wrong, that she had to resign from the legal practice. That alone shows that she is not fit for higher office.

Nada, Nyet, Nothing. Now if someone wants to come up with a CONCRETE,chargeable, claim, go right ahead. The police didn’t find one 19 years ago and given the best of the Murdoch press, it’s very unlikely they’ll find another.

In the interim, using a witness bought an paid for by third parties, who background is now proven criminal and who’s veracity and morals are in the gutter. Don’t try and use this man or his evidence to question the character of the Prime Minister of this country.

  122. Aren’t the far right so dumb as to believe Abbotts rantings and never question where the truth might lie. He uses the Goebbles technique to smear the government at every opportunity. The truth is the casualty. Hypocrisy is rife amongst the far right and if this is what you want in a government then you are madder than mad.

If you tell a lie big enough and keep repeating it, people will eventually come to believe it. The lie can be maintained only for such time as the State can shield the people from the political, economic and/or military consequences of the lie. It thus becomes vitally important for the State to use all of its powers to repress dissent, for the truth is the mortal enemy of the lie, and thus by extension, the truth is the greatest enemy of the State.
