Tony Abbott is all for deregulation, against “nanny-state,” unless he thinks there’s a vote in it #auspol

You cannot bet with a bookie unless you’re over 18-years-old. And yet some – now including Tony Abbott – want to ban sports betting ads during sports broadcasts on television, but only if they contain “live-odds.”.

A random, ill-considered, journo/chattering-class driven policy initiative that won’t have much effect, one way or the other given that most punters can and do check their mobiles or tablets or laptops for prices. Those Liberals expecting a limited-government economic-reform-driving Abbott administration are going to be sorely disappointed if this announcement is any guide.
