WITH FRIENDS LIKE THESE: Disgraced Liberal ex-MP Andrew Olexander still going for the Green

OlexanderNotorious former Liberal MP Andrew Olexander continues to give his love to the Greensparty, this week pledging to support their candidates in City of Melbourne council elections despite being on a $60,000 parliamentary pension for life courtesy of his tumultuous service for the Libs in the Victorian Parliament where he:

■ Caused public scandal by wrecking as many four cars in a booze fuelled rampage demolition derby in his taxpayer funded vehicle causing him to later lose his drivers’ licence and preselection;

■ Contested a preselection after the scandal and got less than 10% of the preselectors’ votes which he falsely blamed on homophobia;

■ Has since been dragged to court and found guilty of toll evasion on the Citylink;

■ Falsely accused senior members of the Liberal party of homophobia;

■ Failed to open his MP’s electorate office for weeks on end;

■ Employed his lover at the time, Jim Forbes (who’d been married for 27 years until his wife learned of the affair), on the parliamentary payroll as an electorate officer even though Forbes was also working as a teacher at the time and ran a dairy farm (he has since busted up with Forbes and taken out an intervention order against him);

■ Was falsely enrolled; and

■ Put his hand up for millions worth of parliamentary pension despite publicly pledging not to do so. He claimed he was in poor health. He is understood to be on a taxpayer funded parliamentary pension of $60,000 per annum for life. The decision to award Olexander the pension prompted one of the superannuation trustees Denis Napthine to resign in protest.

  1. Olexander is only saying how he voted – big deal.

    Speaking of Parliamentary pensions Mary “Moscow” Delahunty the Arts Minister in the Bracks/Brumby Government is not only got the usual pension but an extra one because she could not work due to stress when she left Spring St.

    Since then Moscow Mary has started a writers commune at her rural property, become chair of a federally funded art body through the Australia Council and now is standing for council in Glen Eira.

    I understand Delahunty is still getting her “sit down” money even though she has a new lease on life.
