- Interesting to compare the Lord Mayoral prediction market with Sportingbet where it appears substantial sums have been bet on racing identity Nick Columb to move him from being a longshot to being third favourite. Without a direct mail campaign of his own, that does seem unlikely particularly compared with TAFE employee Catherine Ng's big spending blitz funded by undisclosed sources. She's had so much to spend, it even enabled her to hire former Liberal dirt unit commandant Ian Hanke (complete with shaved head and monocle) for $20,000. She's conservatively spent another $200,000 on direct mail and psychotherapy for the campaign. #
