In a village in Georgia, locals have installed a statue to honour the viciously murderous Soviet dictator Stalin..
Stalin was a great labour leader
I visited Georgia in 1969 when it was still part of the USSR on a trip organised by the National Union of Australian University Students (the former name for AUS). Georgia is where Stalin was born and grew up. At a factory in Tbilisi a portrait of Stalin had pride of place. The locals told me he was a good Communist and a great Georgian.
In 1945 Stalin said to Churchill and Roosevelt (or Truman) that it would be better to just execute the top 50,000 Nazis instead of having the Nuremberg War Crimes trails. Perhaps he had a point.
I think Stalin’s approach could be used with the Roman Catholic child sex offenders in Australian and the Roman Catholic leaders who covered it up or were involved. When was the last time a Cardinal was hanged in Australia?
