Council-owned gallery displays porn artwork with kids’ faces

A Port Philip council owned gallery has been raided for displaying artworks of sex acts with children.

VEXNEWS regular Adrian Jackson was there and indeed appears to have predicted the raid.

  1. The Age photo says it all.

  2. ‘predicted’ or ‘demanded’? Perhaps Adrian should stick to bug chasing at the St Kilda toilets.

  3. You don’t demand anything from the police you just make a brief telephone complaint. I assume that others also complained. They certainly did at last weeks Port Phillip Council meeting. The police will decide what is kiddy porn; not the council, not the Linden Gallery committee, not the Melbourne left arts lobby or not the St Kilda swingers party set.

  4. According to the press tonight the police may be laying charges against the artist concerned.

  5. So, Adrian, you are happy to let the police make decisions concerning what art is offensive and art what isn’t? Obviously you decided it was offensive before you rang the police . We are extremely lucky to have a moral guardian like Adrian to bring in the law to protect our vulnerable citizens (none of whom complained to the best of my understanding – just Adrian).
Jeez, I thought we’d done this moral outrage stuff many times over.
Adrian did you ring the police over the Vatican’s use of altar boys for the satisfaction of the clergy? I doubt it. Here we go again, thanks Adrian for bringing back the Dark Ages.
The publicity will do this young artist the world of good.
That’s if your bigotry doesn’t cripple him in the process.

  6. Andrew Foster – I have not personally witnesses what goes on in the Roman Catholic church but I witnesses the art at the Linden – did you, I bet not.

As far as the Roman Catholic church and the abuse of children is concerned I have written letters and made comments to the media and MP’s. An additional punishment would be the demolition of St Patrick cathedral and the gaoling of Pell and Hart as they should have known what was going on.

This is in addition to financial compensation for the victims and the gaoling of the vile priests involved if still alive.

So you see Andrew I am on the ball here too. What have you done about the Romanists?

  7. Adrian,
You calling the police about this was clearly politically motivated and you have no interest ni seeing this piece as art.
It really infuriates me that people like you – Chris Spillane and Cr Andrew Bond – are out there deciding what adults should be allowed to view when you have no qualification to be doing that.
Like Andrew, Paul will get some GOOD publicity for this and have a great career, whereas you will stil be stuck in your little vacuum of a world.

  9. Myron (sounds like moron)- grow up and check your facts. But first have a bex powder, a cup of tea and a good lay down.

There were no “adults only” sign up for the first week including opening night when children were present for the adults champagne guzzling party.

Victoria Police took away the evidence there needed not me and the Linden board closed the whole pathetic exhibition not me or the police.

See the current story about art in Victoria in the main section of Vexnews as I am not going to repeat it all here.

  11. I suspect the main reason the St Kilda cops were bothered getting off their fat arses after a single complaint from Look-at-me Jackson was because he told them that there was also a piece included in the exhibit which said something along the lines of fuck the police, pigs with guns etc.

He forgot the bit about pigs with massive egos and they were not about to let that slide without seeing charging him with something. Adrian understood that by bringing the ‘fuck the pigs’ comments to their attention that a raid was guaranteed.

Thanks to Adrian’s grandstanding, no doubt an attempt to drum up local support for his fifth unsuccessful tilt at a council spot, this stupid artist is facing ten years in jail.
This blog is littered with comments from Adrian which are far more outrageous, offensive and stupid than anything this young twat could think up so he is the last person who should be getting on a high horse.

  12. From The Age;
“‘Art is there to be life-affirming and to explore ideas about what it means to live in these troubled times.’’Middle Park resident Adrian Jackson said he and his sister were disgusted by Yore’s installation when they visited the gallery on Friday.

He said the installation was plastered with slogans including: ‘‘The Pope is f—-d, Everything’s f—-d, The police are f—-d, Pigs with guns.’’

‘‘The police would have loved that one,’’ he said.

‘‘And when you go intothe grotto, it looked like teenage boys with erections, with stickers overthem.’’

    He described it as ‘‘degenerate.’’

‘‘It’s not the right time to do any of that stuff at the moment anyway, you know what I mean with all the stuff with the Roman Catholic Church.’’

  13. Having said all of that, I do concede the possibility that this was just the reaction the artist was looking for, considering that the exhibition was a tribute to the only Australian artist who has gone to jail for offensive work.
He also appeared to be wearing a dress in his photo in The Age so may consider prison as some sort of pleasure dome. Do gays and lezzos try to get into prison? Just wondering.

  14. The Adrian Jackson at 07 Jun 13, 19:08 hrs is an imposter.

That said Moron is not spelt Moran which is a surname.

I understand the the Chief Commissioner of Victoria Police was taking an interest in this kiddy porn issue at the Linden Gallery.

  15. whoa nelly – were do I start. I last stood for council in 2001 (12 years ago and the 3rd attempt) and I am not planning to stand in the future either. One can get things done by making submissions to council, attending council meeting etc or writing letter to the press.

The police may not like being called pigs but the language was not the issue; the kiddy porn art installation was. It was the artist that wrote the words too not me.

Sometime imposter’s use my name here because they are losers and cowards. They do it to other people too.

I don’t care if the artist wears a dress or if he is gay. Actually I support gay marriage and have said so (The Age, 29 Aug 11).

Little is more offensive than kiddy porn or pedophilia in the Roman Catholic church.

  16. whoa nelly – is that your real name or are you one of those faceless screen name types.

  17. Just because some stuff is done by an artist doesn’t make it art.

Art may be confronting or offensive and still qualify as art. However, art has to show more skill than the use of a glue stick and scissors and a plethora of profanities.
