GOING ROGUE: Document written by Tristan Weston undermines Deputy Premier Peter Ryan’s story

Tristanweston2Last year, VEXNEWS reported on angst around those close with Tristan Weston, the former ministerial adviser thrown to the wolves in the mini-saga turned scandal relating to the Victorian Police Minister’s relationship with the Chief Commissioner of Police and back-door deals with the Police Association who were desperate for a change of leadership at Victoria Police.

This year, today in fact, The Australian reports[$] that documents that were in Peter Ryan’s office are leaking, one written by Weston and given to the minister that contradicts what he had previously said, including in testimony to the Office of Police Integrity.

The document in question is a five-page briefing document for Ryan that the Minister had denied reading and emphatically denied in Parliament and in testimony at the OPI ever existed.

Many assumed the Deputy Premier would be the strongest minister in a Baillieu government, it has not turned out that way.

  2. Peter said Tristan was a liar. This document suggests otherwise. When is Peter going to front the media?
    Parliament sits next week.

  3. Simon Overland was a reforming police commissioner, that is what they didn’t like. The sooner Ted and all the bully boys in g’mt in Vic get the boot, the better!

Thank you, my dear brothers and sisters.

  4. Rumor has it that all is not well in Liberal land. Could this be. Preemptive strike by the MOB to rid Ted of his greatest weapon used to keep the part room in check?. The existance of the document and a heap of others potentially damaging to Ryan et al has been known amongst the inner circle for some time. Interestingly it is suggested that Ted’s office has had copies for some time. This won’t be over for a while.

  7. Weston will finish off Ryan. Word is he is fed up with Ryan’s character attacks on him and the straw has broken the camel’s back. So now it’s time to engage and engage he will until he routs his foe. I wonder if Ryan will be asked to explain why he may have lied to the OPI? So far it seems that Bill Tilley and Weston disagree with Ryan’s version of events. I wonder how long Hindmarsh will stay staunch when they come for him?

And Alison please stop telling us crap like that.
Overland was a power freak and an incompetent Commissioner just like his former boss,The fat Controller Nixon.
Well done Weston for getting rid of him and others.

  9. Dear lawsuit: It is not ‘crap,” it is the truth. Quit listening to 3AW and reading the Herald Sun. You might find you brain returns home, (admittedly alone).

If Overland was an “incompetent” commissioner, why was the government so keen to get him out? And look what we now have with the police, give ’em 18% pay rise one day, send them out to bash the occupiers the next. Not good enough!

  10. We will get Peter Ryan what ever it takes, we will not stop exposing him for what he is – until he joins his brother.

  11. There is no hope for Ryan. Its only a matter of time. Expect a “family reasons” announcement any time now.

  12. Well Alison I dont know if you have a fetish for bald heads but the facts are Simon was in over his head and surrounded himself with equally useless AFP mates.Just look at the IT disaster he knew about that and what did he do. What he shouldnt have done was get Ken Lay to set the dogs on Weston. He isnt out of the woods either but he did see the errors of his ways and drop his support for overland. And now look at him.

  13. Simon Overland and Christine Nixon were both bad cops. We copped both of them for too long.
