HOTTIES ROW FLARES: Rudd insists ALP has “great talent” too
Prime Minister Kevin Rudd has this afternoon joined Liberal patriot Tim Andrews in his appreciation of the “great talent” in Australian politics.
While at a press conference in Perth with the WA Premier, journalists asked the nation’s leader to comment on the arguments raised by Tim Andrews on his website and on VEXNEWS where his good humour is appreciated maturely and with some sense of perspective.

PM: And with those remarks I’ll open to any questions either of myself, the Premier or anyone else here who you want to throw a question at and the answer to which I can’t provide.
JOURNALIST: Prime Minister, just a story from the Daily Telegraph today, is it appropriate for the Liberals to have a website which is bragging that they have the hottest girls in Australian politics?
PM: Um. Should you be directing that here?
JOURNALIST: This is for Laurie Oakes, by the way.
PM: Pass. The um, I will leave that, Mr Turnbull is in town isn’t he? Right okay I might leave that one to Mr Turnbull.
JOURNALIST: Are there hot women in the Liberal party?
PREMIER: Talented women.
PM: I think there are people of enormous ability in all of our political parties and I think I will just leave it rest at that.
JOURNALIST: Are the women hotter in Labor or in the Liberals?
PM: I believe we have great talent in the Australian Labor Party. But in terms of the Liberal Party, there are others more qualified to comment on this than myself. And could I say, that’s a matter for the Liberal Party.

Now perhaps this can all be explained by a note that was sent to me which explains to me that the six leading members of the Government from Mr Rudd down, the top six have a collective work experience of 181 years.
But only 13 (years) in the private sector.
If you take out of those 13 years the number that were spent as trade union lawyers, that total 11, of the 181 years only two years were spent in the private sector.
The people who will rack up a net Federal debt minimum of 188 billion, the highest in our history, have virtually no experience in business.
So out of 181 years:
- no years spent running their own business
- no years spent starting their own business
- no years spent as a director of a family business or a company
- no years as a director of a public company
- no years in a senior position in a public company
- no years in a senior position in a private company
- no years working in corporate finance
- no years in corporate or business restructuring
- no years working in or with a bank
- no years of experience in the capital markets
- no years in a stockbroking firm
- no years in negotiating debt facilities with banks
- no years running a small business
- no years at the World Bank or IMF or OECD
- no years in Treasury or Finance.

What will the rusted-on Labor supporters say – or should I say rustly old Laborites – in the months & years ahead when everything goes pear-shaped?
No doubt it will have all been John Howard’s fault.
We now learn that the net debt -the item that dare not speak its name – is likely to be hugely more than $300 billion. Oh dear, that was hard to say.
When Standard & Poors are finished blowing out the UK to a negative rating, they will no doubt get around to Australia and then the job of funding the debt goes from difficult to impossible.
If the ETS comes to pass, it will according to the Mineral Council, cost about 23,000 jobs.
And on & on it goes, as has been well documented by mclaren, simon, mpark girl, andrei and others.
