THE UNSTOPPABLE GEORGE: No man, no law, no war, no NX, no Premier can stop him

georgeseitzprsel

The ALP nominations for preselection have closed and it really has descended into a carnivale de comedy.

While Keilor MP George Seitz was blocked from running by the National Executive, he has demonstrated that his legacy lives on by running candidates in at least ten state seats, just for a lark. The seats under attack from Seitz include Mordiallic, Carrum, Bundoora, Ivanhoe, Northcote (two candidates no less in there for good measure), Thomastown, Mill Park, Narre Warren North, Prahran and Lara. None of these nominations are likely to represent a serious challenge for the incumbents, but is an embarrassment for the Ambition Faction, who usually claim George’s votes, largely on the basis of a friendship cultivated by Feeney lieutenants Robin Scott and Adem Somyurek.

To make matters more amusing, the patriot went on leave yesterday, to relieve himself of the hassle of fielding angst-ridden calls from any of the MP’s under siege from Seitz. He is understood not to be answering his mobile phone which is – no doubt – ringing off the hook.

Scott himself faces an opponent in the form of former Socialist Left member turned Labor moderate and Moreland councillor  Tony Helou. Robin’s backers are very confident he will survive any challenge in Preston, due to his high local profile and strong grass-roots support in the branches. Another stirrer having a crack is Joe Italiano who has nominated in Pascoe Vale, but is not expected to defeat long-term local MP and former Minister Christine Campbell.

There are also reports that elements associated with the CFMEU have nominated in a range of Left seats including Calwell, Yuroke, Altona, and Eltham. Perhaps the CFMEU Construction division were taking seriously future Liberal leader Terry Mulder’s push for Lynne Kosky (the MLA for Altona) to be removed from her Transport ministry. Their coalition with the socially conservative patriots of the SDA and NUW has raised eyebrows, it seems their Maoist style ideological flexibility knows no bounds.

We also hear that the Sports Minister’s Chief of Staff Lizzie Blandthorn personally lodged a nomination for the SDA trooper Kathleen Matthews-Ward in Northcote against Parliamentary Secretary and John Brumby favourite Fiona Richardson. It’s a bit harsh to blame Lizzie for what was no doubt an instruction from on-high but it’s not a good look for a chief of staff to a minister to be involved in attacking another member of the Brumby front-bench. We suspect all involved will have plenty of explaining to do despite Cr Matthews-Ward’s candidacy probably not representing a serious threat to Richardson.

To his credit, ex SDA patriot Stephen Donnelly, the chief of staff to Senator Feeney, was present at the lodging of the form and did his very best to dissuade Blandthorn from throwing this particular hand-grenade into the tinder-box.

Only one federal seat is under challenge, with the AMWU’s Andy Richards – a Geelong councillor and nice bloke – running in Calwell to give the somnolent Carr Lefty Maria Vamvakinou a bit of a wake-up call. He’s not expected to pursue it seriously though.

  7. The west are the winners NOT

    Natalie Sykes (/Anglo)
    Bob [deleted] Smith (Anglo)
    Telmo [deleted] Languiller
    Marsha Thompson (Anglo)
    Bill Shorten (Anglo)
    O Conner (Anglo)
    Rob Hulls (Anglo)
    Don Nardall (Anglo)

People on the ground like Asip, Troy, Sebastian and Hakki need to wake up or your all going to get peanuts in the future. You have all been used & abused so you can fight each other. The only winners are the Anglo’s and the old timers who got a victory back in the hay days. If all you idiots on the ground work together and stopped being dictated believe me you would get something until then you get bugger all. They make you fight but what you don’t no is they sit around at parliament everyday laughing and scratching each other backs. Talk about a multicultural area.

  9. There is a new book out, the smallest and shortest in history, so small in fact it does not need pages, it is called “George Seitz’s – Achievements As An MP”.

  10. George Seitz is a stupid fat old bastard that should have been politically executed in the late 1980’s After drawing on the public purse for his income for over 26 years, with many more years of Parliamentary Pension to come, he has seen fit to crap all over the party that his given him his career. The fat turd should be shot.

  12. Lets see how Brumby ‘the gutless’ deals with this problem. But knowing Brumby and how he operates, he wont’ do a thing and let Seitz rule the roost and why you ask???…….because he doesn’t have a Ombudsman Report identifying recommendations the Brumby ‘the gutless’ can simply adopt in an attempt to prove how holly than thou he is. What a joke, I can’t stand Seitz but I actually hope Seitz and all his candidates win all their preselections just to shove it up Brumby ‘the gutless’, now that would be priceless.

  13. Stephen Donnelly Chief of Staff to Senator Feeney. Turn it up. Feeney does not have a COS, he has a few electorate staff. Give Donnelly a call on 0458 550 5xx and tell him to stop people giving him grand titles.I am sure he will appreciate the call. Clearly someone is trying to embarress him.
    How unpatriotic can it get.

  14. Has anyone actually told Garotti that he is just a running mate for Langdon and shouldn’t be ringing around POSC delegates trying to organise central panel votes?

    Guess not.

  39. I think that is my point that Richardson has nothing to worry about, so not sure why we are wasting time with these lame efforts. Surely the people of Darebin have endured enough with the Asmar clan and every other branch stacking nuff nuff on the scene. Why bother the crusty old branchies with this nonsense.

O’Connor isn’t an Anglo, he’s a Celt. Wasn’t that long ago when the bog-trotters were 3rd class citizens in this country (1st Class = English imports (the bunyip aristos); 2nd class = native born Aussies of English descent; then a slow 3rd the micks.

His own electorate officer Gordon Lennox is a convicted fraudster and has been allowed to continue in the office, so why would anyone worry about little things like George’s bingo receipts and branch stacking efforts.
