VOLCANIC MAGNER: Serial Greensparty candidate Damian Magner explodes in denial over Greens council endorsement

DamianmagnerDamian Magner, Greensparty candidate in Melbourne northern suburbs council Banyule, in its Hawdon Ward, had a volcanic temper tantrum in the presence of voters and campaign rivals this week at the early voting centre in Greensborough over being linked to the increasingly unappealing Greensparty machine, VEXNEWS investigators report.

When a voter asked one of the campaign volunteers whether there was a Greens candidate (in the same way as one would check whether there was a serial killer or drug peddler to avoid), the campaigner helpfully pointed out that Magner is a Green. Damian reacted violently to this description – “went berserk” according to one distressed eyewitness – emphatically denying that he was a Greensparty candidate and that he was running as an independent. He has been a serial and unsuccessful Greensparty candidate in the area, so his denial was seen by the uncharitable as deceitful in the extreme.

Magner might enjoy his herbal tea and chai latte but he’s seen by locals who have to endure him as an intensely wound-up and unpleasant fellow. Former local MP Craig Langdon, who reinvented as a local councillor, showing he’s a sucker for punishment, should perhaps offer the angry Greenista a relaxing back-rub, Banyule jesters have proposed. Locals explain that even his running-mate David Carbone dropped Magner like a hot spud when he found out his electoral material was being endorsed by a local developer. In protest, Carbone is now referencing rival and genuinely independent council aspirant Steve Briffa.

The explosive Magner is as community minded as Pol Pot, explain those familiar with the situation. Word around ALP circles is that Magner’s next-door neighbour recently rang an Labor MP’s office and insisted the ALP candidate put a sign in their front yard because Magner had never spoken to him and one time when the neighbour had a shopping bag accident in the front of his house, Magner walked straight by without offering any assistance.

  1. I thought if funny that there was a Google Ad for Moreland Greens showing on the left. I would like to encourage readers to click on the ads if they appear. (They are a pay on click)

  2. The Greens candidate in Griffin Ward (Banyule Council), not only does not live in the ward but told another candidate in an email that she could not catch up for a coffee before the election as she was overseas. Such commitment to the voters of Griffin Ward. When confronted on the issue a Greens lady on a booth confirmed the candidate was in East Timor doing “research” and unlikely to be seen before the election. Such “high morals” these Greens have!

Suggest you look at some of the insulting photographs that Mr Lynch likes – facebook unprotected

And considering the company he represents is in significant receipt of tax payer funded green schemes, you’d think he’d be a little less political

  4. I would suggest that ICLEI is a front for the Greens Part y to enable influence and spread the Green Message through local government. Why is Cr Oke the best person for job?

Another question to Alexi Lynch would be to ask him how he espouse the charter of ICLEI promoting peace and tolerance given his facebook pictures and comments.

Charitable status for ICLEI but partnering with Ironbark Company? Mmm wonder what the ATO would think of that.

ICLEI Oceania (legally represented by the International Council for Local Environmental Initiatives – Australia/New Zealand Limited) is listed on the Department of the Environment, Water, Heritage and the Arts’ Register of Environmental Organisations and is entitled under the Income Tax Assessment Act 1997 item 6-1.1 of subsection 30-55(1) to receive tax deductible donations. Australian Business Number (ABN) 66 089 145 433.

See the Support Our Work webpage for information on how you can support ICLEI Oceania’s work

    Environmental Jobs Network

A nice little question would be how can ICLEI maintain impartiality as a government association with Ironbark Sustainability a private company partnering.

Wouldn’t survive the probity test would it?

I reckon you could do a whole section and sub-category piece on why so many Victorian Councils are part of ICLEI

  6. The ALP/Greens coalition in the ACT (that is a council like government in Canberra) has taken a tumble on last weekend election with the Liberals increasing their vote and numbers of seat while the Green 4 MP are down to 1 or 2. The red/green coalition will probably still govern with 1 or 2 Green telling the ALP what to do as usual.

Voters in the ACT are often at odds with national trends, like the keep the Constitutional Monarchy referendum in 1998, but at least on this election they are starting to wake up. The civil servant like they perks under the ALP.

  7. Craig Langdon I am sure would offer “extras” to a back rub.

  8. All of the greens leaflets state that they are a member of the greens. Unlike the labor stooges who have turned up and asked people which flyers to hand out (how bout your own???) and how long they should be there for???
The sign on Damians neighbours place is for an independant with liberal leanings…

i’m guessing you went to the alan jones school of research…

  11. Why is Damian’s material authorised by a developer with a 14 unit inappropriate development at Council right now.

Magner has criticised many developments in the area but not that one. Passing strange!

Even the doyen on develpopment in the area, Wayne Phillips has supported the over development be reduced to 7 units.

Did Carbonne dump him as a running mate because Damian had gone over to the dark side.

  12. just did google search- turns out david carbone and Steve briffa are facebook friends, and ‘ business. looks like he’s briffas stooge

  13. Carbone is definitely a Briffa stooge. At one booth the Briifa/Carbonne team was “interchangeable, swapping t-shirts and how to vote cards end the end of shifts. The Carbonne campaigner (who later donned a Briffa shirt and cap) admitted he lodges with Briifa (his words). At the end of the day both teams packed everything into the one car…….stooges all of them
